In December 2007, the company was offering (and still does) a free, no-obligation 30 day trial, for which they require a CC, but promise not to charge it if the account is cancelled within 30 days. After just a few days of signing up, I cancelled the account. In February of 2008, my CC is hit with a charge from them in excess of $200. Upon calling, no one could figure out what was going on, and I was told that they would reverse the charges and I just had to talk to "billing". I kept getting put into a voicemail for billing (Amybeth), who never returned my calls. After about a week, she contacted me and indicated that they had no record of cancellation, but she confirmed the account had was completely inactive since the date in late December when I did cancel it, but she would not agree to reverse the charges (contrary to what they first told me). She said she would cancel the account if I emailed her the user name/pw for the account. That was done, and to date they have not confirmed cancellation and are no longer responding to me.

In searching the public records on this company, some interesting things came up. It appears it use to be called "Group Spark"...then in early 2006 it changed its legal name to "Collaboration Online, Limited Company". 123together is really just a fictitious name. The terms of service on the website are all written under the name "Group Spark", which again no longer exists. See the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Secretary's website and do a corporation search for either Group Spark on Collaboration Online. You can get copies of all their pas corporate filings.

The registered agent and apparent owner is Ravi Agarwal. I have called for him to attempt to resolve this matter and was told he does not speak to customers. He has not yet responded to my facsimile either. He is also listed on many documents as holding all corporate officer positions, which implies this is a small operation.

Reasons this company is a RIP OFF:

1) Did not timely respond to inquiries regarding questionable CC charges.

2) Has not acknowledged account cancellation despite request to do so.

3) Very high price and lower quality compared to competition. This is why I cancelled after trying them. I was looking for 10 mailboxes. 3GB is their premier mailbox storage plan, and that starts at $39.99 mo per box. (usually $79.99, but seems like there's always a sale). In way of comparison, Intermedia gives you 4GB mailbox for only $12.95 mo. It's an absolute no brainer. Plus Intermedia host pilot control is far superior.

4) Does not maintain up-to-date terms of service on its website.

I have asked Ravi to please reply and show that he wants to act in good faith and resolve this matter. I am still awaiting a response.

In light of these circumstances, consumers are advised to be circumspect prior to engaging with 123together.com.

CC was not refunded before the post, but AFTER they were served notice they were goin to be sued. That's what it took to get the to correct the situaiton. Notice they don't bother to respond to the other comments, and they play semantics...oh, it's not a "free", it's "no obligation".....okay.

In response to report #312675 Collaboration Online, Limited Company would like to clarify a few points which were mentioned. * After reviewing this customer's history it was determined that the customer's credit card was credited the full amount on February 26, 2008 (one day before posting of the complaint). * The legal name of the company is Collaboration Online, Limited Company. The company does business under two brands, 123Together.com and groupSPARK, to better serve its diverse customer base. * We do not offer customers a free trial. We offer a no obligation trial. To clarify, a customer may try our services for 30 days. They are under no obligation to purchase and may cancel during that time. If they cancel during the first 30 days they are not charged. If they decide to continue the service beyond the 30 day trial period, their credit card is charged for the full amount of time in which they have used the service.
