Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I was doing a project for school when a page popped up on my internet saying "A virus has been detected. You must contact us immediately to have it removed. Your information is no longer safe" They left the number 1(866)641-2706. So i thought about it a second and called just to see what it was about. When I got connected with someone I instantly knew this wasn’t right. The guy had a thick indian accent to where I could hardly understand him. I told him what happened and that I didn’t think Mac computers could get viruses. So then he tried to convince me that they now can (I knew better than that!). He said it would take about 45 minutes for him to "fix" my computer (aka hack into it and get all the information he could get).

I was like I think I will have to call back. And he said ok it will cost you about $100-200, depending how bad the virus is. I said ok I will get in touch with you and he said here is my personal number 1(800)676-8695. I immediately called apple care and asked them what I should do and they said DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! He said they have been receiving a lot of calls about this scam. So he walked me through cleaning out my computer just incase they did hack into it. So I called the people back and to my surprise they wouldn’t answer. I sat on hold for 10 minutes until I outsmarted them. I called back from a private number and of course they answered.

I asked what was the name of the company (of course, another thick indian accent that I could barely understand). He said 24/7 Micro tech, what can I help you with? I informed him that I had the police involved on their little "scam" and I just needed to know the name of the company for the report. That lit a fire under his butt, let me tell you. He then screamed at me and said it was not a scam that they are the #1 virus removing company in the United States and that people steal their number and post it on scams. I said what would a scam benefit from putting someone that isn’t a scams number on something? And he yelled you go right ahead and do that report and hung up on me. So moral of the story is, DO NOT BE FOOLED! IF IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT, IT ISNT!
