Complaint Review: 716 Services - Select State/Province

 Approximately a year and a half ago, I (foolishly) signed something with this company for magazine subscriptions. It seemed like a good deal and I was easily talked into it. After about a year so this is around April of this year I decided I did not want the subscriptions any longer. Due to different life events including medical problems, a magazine subscription even though it seems cheap enough, was no longer a montly bill I could afford. I wanted to cancel and I told them that.

I should've known what kind of problems would ensue because if I was even a week late on my payment they would call non stop on my cell phone and my place of employment until I paid them. Now it's on the brink of November and the phone calls and harassament that not only myself but my family have been dealing with is ridiculous! It started with only the company calling my cell phone and leaving messages. Then a "mediator" started calling. Next thing I now this woman "mediator" starts calling my family, starting with my husands 80 year grandmother, that was NOT listed anywhere on anything I signed.

This woman tells her, that I may possibly going to jail, that I have a court date, all kinds of things. I've never received ANYTHING stating that these things were true. I called this woman and specifically asked her to STOP calling her and do not call any of my family. I told her I did NOT want the subscription anymore, and will not pay for them. I realize that I still get them in the mail but I've told them to STOP!!! I told her they can do what they need to legally but I wasn't giving them any account information, and to stop calling.

The calls only slowed down...for awhile. Next my mother in law starts getting phone calls from a gentleman that claims he's an investigator and tells her on her answering machine that she's missed a court date. Again nothing was served by an officer or sent in the mail, etc. About a week later an "Investigator" calls my mother and tells her the same thing that she's missed a court date, she tells him she has no clue what he's talking about and that she DID NOT have a court date for anything, his reply "okay that's all I needed to know, nevermind" and he goes on to tell her that he's looking for me and my mother in law.

Same gentleman calls my mother in law at work, finally she speaks to him. He was extremely rude, and tried to be intimidating. He claims he is with the attorney general's office and there is a case against her. She starts asking questions of him to which he didn't want to answer any of them. He wouldn't give out a phone number to reach him or a first name. He said that "investigators don't do that". He tried to get her to give him money, he claimed the company had turned everything over to him and he could take the payment!!! He even finished the conversation with "you won't have to worry driving home tonight, you won't be picked up"!!

At this point I spoke to my attorney, they informed me they are breaking all kinds of laws, with the harassment, calling my family, posing as an investigator with the state attorney generals office. I was advised to file a complaint with my state attorney generals office and so I did. My next step will be filing harassment charges with my local sherriff's department.

My husband started getting the phone calls also. He finally answered the "no caller id" call and same gentleman was on the line. My husband was at work but this man along with this company does not care, they have no respect for it. He told lie after lie. The reason I know it's a lie is because there is no "case" against me. This bill hasn't even been sent to collections like most normal businesses do. In the end all he wanted was our bank account number.

I have never known someone who is supposed to be a type of law enforcement want someone's bank account number, let alone trying to get a payment. After doing some internet research, I 've seen time after time again how this company harasses people, lies, and is very deceitful in their promises and their "contract". They claim to not be a scam but how can they not be? Yes they deliver a product but what business ANY business would continue to send something that was clearly not wanted anymore and they do not receive payment any longer?!?!

The responses by this company for the complaints against them on the BBB website are rude, unprofessional, and they cross lines by putting personal information on there. This is a TERRIBLE company!!!! My advice to everybody is DO NOT get mixed up with them!!! And for anyone else that may read this and has had the same exact harassment, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MAKE THEM LEAVE YOUR FAMILY ALONE?!?!!
