99Calls promotes some of the most dishonest campaigns since ServiceMagic and Networx and is defrauding its contractors. They allow fake posted reviews by their own employees when they “remember” that the site they created to generated leads was stagnant for months. Beware of their false 5 star reviews, they are not real customers and they even live so far away from the area covered by the contractors that its obvious that they defraud the contractor. For an internet based lead company, they have the most archaic positioning.

Additionally, you have to do all of the work. You have to provide them with everything, and pay nearly a grand to do all the work. We received 3 leads from them in both offices (Texas and Florida). 2 of them were telemarketers trying to sell us something and the 3rd was not a lead that had anything to do with our craft. While some actually do receive leads from them, they are far and few between. With so many fly by night companies like this one, we had to do a little digging but we actually looked up 99calls clients and called them. All but one have had miserable success. I chose 5 past clients of theirs. These people are manipulative and cunning. You have been warned. Steer clear of them.

Are you getting your money’s worth from your online advertising expenses?

That’s the question many business owners should be asking themselves. You already know that having a web presence is crucial and that hiring an online advertising professional is worth the investment—but are you making the right investment for your company? Once you’ve decided to hire a provider, it’s a little more difficult to figure out if you’re actually getting the best return possible.

What Are the Options?

There are advertising options for every budget, and they can be categorized into a three-tier system of pricing.

  • Top-tier providers are suited for large, competitive markets and undefined geographic boundaries, and are therefore very expensive.
  • Mid-tier providers are perfectly serviceable for niche markets and narrow geographic boundaries, and are therefore more affordable than top-tier providers.
  • Bottom-tier providers are entry-level online advertisers who provide one-size-fits-all marketing, and are therefore considerably cheap.

To simplify matters, we’ll use general terms and average rates to discuss the advertising providers in each tier (as specific services and price points vary from provider to provider). Obviously, the tier that you’ll want to use will depend on your company’s marketing budget as well as its needs. At the end of the day, you want to get the best possible online advertising services that you can afford for your business.

Top-Tier Providers

In this tier, clients have a range of advertising options to choose from. However, the two most prominent options are premium outside marketers and in-house marketers.

OUTSIDE MARKETERS

Premium marketing services from outside providers generally cost around $10,000 per month or more. Not surprisingly, these services are typically reserved for large corporations that have broad national or international campaigns. Regional campaigns (in New England or on the West Coast, for example) with a more focused market will cost maybe half, but that’s still in the ballpark of $5,000. Regardless, let’s use $10,000 as the baseline price. That adds up to $120,000 spent on Internet marketing services in one year.

So, what are you getting for $120,000 per year? You’re paying for high-end, 100% customized services from a small firm that only takes on a handful of clients at a time. You’ll get personal attention at all hours of the day. Your hired specialists won’t have tons of data points to work from, given that they typically don’t focus on more than a few clients in a given year, but they’ll still be able to draw on experience from previous and other current clients in order to evolve their approach when necessary.

IN-HOUSE MARKETERS

The other top-tier option is to hire an in-house team that performs numerous online marketing activities for your company. This will involve hiring at least one promotions specialist on a yearly salary that falls between $50,000 and $55,000. (Keep in mind, costs for in-house employees go beyond salary; you must also account for health benefits, personal equipment, and other overhead costs.) However, if you want an efficient marketing team, then you’ll want to hire a couple of additional specialists, as well. If you hire just two promotions specialists, you’re already looking at a yearly cost of $100,000 to $110,000 in salary alone.

What are you getting from your in-house marketing team? You’re getting a team that, by definition, is under your employ and therefore at your beck and call. Attention to your campaign can’t get more personalized than that. However, this team is only working on one campaign, so it won’t have the benefit of A/B testing and multiple data points that come with an outside provider who has many different clients. This means they may not be able to spot trends in updated search algorithms or test new techniques with as much confidence.

THE WINNER

With the average costs of both options being relatively equal, we’d say that premium services from an outside provider will get you the biggest bang for your buck. However, they’re both viable and effective options.

Mid-Tier Providers

On the other end of the spectrum, mid-tier providers are for local businesses that are marketing to a niche audience in a restricted geographic area. These are plumbers, electricians, handymen, and similar businesses. Prospect Genius is a mid-tier provider.

This type of provider may cost between $300 and $500 per month. With these providers, a campaign is roughly 20% customized, with the remainder following a standardized procedure that’s used for all other clients. Although the vast majority of small businesses have similar advertising needs and face similar issues, mid-tier providers will work with clients to tailor campaigns as much as possible within the framework of their program. These kinds of campaigns are effective because small, localized markets aren’t very competitive and don’t require as much legwork to get off the ground.

What are you getting for $300 to $500 per month? You get all the online advertising essentials: a fully functional website with custom content, Google+ Local optimization, directory listings, social media exposure, and (usually) performance reports. Mid-tier providers typically work with hundreds and hundreds of clients who all have similar needs, so they’re exposed to a high number of data points that allows for accurate A/B testing. This means they will be able to detect patterns with different search engines and continually test new techniques to create the most effective strategy possible.

With mid-tier providers, there’s also plenty of room for clients to grow. Typical mid-tier providers will offer a wide selection of campaign upgrades and add-on features that clients may take advantage of at their own discretion. Popular expansion features include social media updates, blog posts, and pay-per-click (PPC) ads. Clients usually start out paying for the bread-and-butter package, but over time they might like their campaign’s results so much that they want to add to it to make it even stronger.

Bottom tier providers are otherwise known as “one-size-fits-all” marketers, these providers cater to small, local businesses who don’t wish to spend much money on advertising. You’ll find a lot of snake oil in this tier. These providers usually cost about $100 per month because their services and strategies apply to every one of their clients with little to no variation whatsoever. They sell the same exact product to every single client, which is how they keep their costs down. Some of the better known providers in this category are Yodle and Yext.

Well, $100 a month sounds pretty cheap! But what are you getting out of it? You’re getting a one- or two-page website that’s identical to many of the provider’s other clients, as well as written content that’s been outsourced to a non-native English speaker. What’s more, most of that content is duplicated from one client to the next, with only minor details like company name and location changed. (As we all know, Google penalizes duplicate content.) But, in a way, their practices make sense: With $50 of your $100 going to overhead costs, and another $25 going to profit, these providers only have about $25 to actually spend on your campaign per month. They’re doing all they can afford to do.

Unlike mid-tier providers, who not only offer room for customization but also room for growth, most bottom-tier providers don’t offer any expansion features. What you see is what you get. The providers that do offer expansion features essentially just upgrade you to a campaign similar to a mid-tier one. In these cases, where they clearly have the resources to provide you with a better service, they should have just sold you the right solution from the start.

Whether you’re currently in the market for a new online advertiser or you’ve been using the same one for years, keep this in mind: You get what you pay for.  When you get scammed by the likes of 99calls and homeadvisor or angies list… don’t say I didn’t warn you.

This Ripoff Report written by a Crook ... Reinwald construction company accused of taking military family's money, not doing work

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sun, February 11, 2018

Orlando's channel 6 news I-Team reports a Freddie Reinwald business tried to take military family's money and not do any work. A clue perhaps why Mr. Reinwald behaved so oddly unprofessional with us, demanding a full refund and tried to blackmail 99 Calls with bad reviews.

Candace Adams and her husband live in Callahan, with their 8-month-old child. The roof on their home was falling apart and they got three bids from companies who might be able to replace it. Tight on money, they selected the lowest bidder, VQuest Construction.

VQuest quoted the Adams family $9,350 for the job, and required a 50 percent down payment to cover supplies. It was a stretch for the couple to scrounge together the needed $4,675 since insurance did not cover the replacement.

“We are both hard-working citizens,” Adams said. “My husband works for the U.S. Navy and I work as a veterinary technician.”

Adams wrote the check to VQuest on July 20, and two months later, still did not have a new roof.

Check to VQuest Construction written by Candace Adams

“What about supplies?” asked the I-TEAM. “No, we haven’t seen him since,” Adams replied.

“It was excuse after excuse. ‘We have to have two dry days in a row and we have these jobs that we have to catch up on,’” Adams recalled. “So we would send him pictures – ‘Hey, the weather is looking good, can we do it this day?’”

Adams said her check was cashed immediately. When the rest of July and all of August went by – seven weeks in all – and no one showed up, Adams and her husband just wanted their money back.

The couple made that request Sept. 7, and was told they would get their money back in seven to 10 working days. After those days came and went with no refund, Adams contacted the I-TEAM.

We learned that the owner of VQuest Construction, Shane Kevin Clement, is in trouble with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations. Clement’s roofing and contracting licenses were suspended last year, and again last month, after two other homeowners complained about work to their roofs. His licenses are now on probation.

The I-TEAM also discovered that VQuest Construction has an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau, which cites a “pattern of failure” involving other roofing complaints. Note ... VQuest Construction and Freddie Reinwald's "Roofing Professionals of Florida" had the same address and phone #, effectively the same company.

Also, when we called the Nassau County building department, we were told a roofing permit had not even been requested to replace the Adams’ roof.

When the I-TEAM went to check out the company’s business address, we found not an office building, but a home – belonging to company president Shane Clement. We also found Clement working for a different roofing company, not the business he owns.

Jennifer Waugh speaks with Shane Kevin Clement

I-TEAM: “Mr. Clement, my name is Jennifer Waugh with Channel 4. I have a contract here that your company signed with Candace and Robert Adams up in Callahan.”

Clement: “They’re getting a refund. They’ve been told that.”

I-TEAM: “And why has it taken two months?”

Clement: “It hasn’t taken two months. They signed a contract in July.”

I-TEAM: “Well, to get the refund, they asked for a refund.”

Clement: “It’s been the weather. It’s a steep metal roof and it took us forever to get there and they decided they were unhappy, we decided to give them their money back.”

I-TEAM: “OK, now you did tell them 7-10 days, two weeks ago, so you can understand why they don’t believe that.”

Clement: “Sure, I understand I don’t think it was two weeks ago, I think it was last week.”

I-TEAM: “So you’re telling me now, that you absolutely guarantee that you’re going to return them $4,675?”

Clement: “$4,675.”

I-TEAM: “Promise?”

Clement: “Promise, next week.”

The I-TEAM took Clement at his word, and 13 days later, Candace Adams received her refund for $4,675 – money she paid for roofing supplies nearly 12 weeks ago, and never received.

VQuest Construction refund check to Candace Adams

“Oh my God, thank you so much!” Adams said to I-TEAM reporter Jennifer Waugh. “I got my money back because of the I-TEAM.”

Clement did email the I-TEAM after we spoke with him, reiterating that there was too much rain for him to replace the Adams’ roof, and insisting there was no ill intent. Thursday morning, he sent a third email, with a letter responding to the I-TEAM’s story and inquiries regarding the work to the Adams’ roof.

Clement said he regretted the delay they experienced, and cited extenuating circumstances, stating that they had a steep roof, and wanted to replace the shingles with a metal roof. Clement explained that because of an unusually wet summer, and the nature of the job, they needed a two to three day window of dry weather in which to complete the job. Clement stated that information was passed along to the customer.

Clement also sent the I-TEAM a copy of a mediation letter from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations. Candace Adams filed a complaint against VQuest Construction. According to the letter, now that VQuest has returned Adams’ money, her complaint is satisfied and she does not want to pursue the complaint further.

Facebook page for Roofing Professionals of Florida (highlights added)

The I-TEAM has also discovered, it appears someone else is also using Clement’s licenses, which again, are currently on probation. The I-TEAM found a company named “Roofing Professionals of Florida” advertising for business on Facebook. It lists a business address and two state license numbers, all of which trace back to Shane Clement, even though his name does not appear as a point of contact anywhere on the company website.

The I-TEAM did call Freddie Reinwald, who was listed as a contact on the company Facebook page. Reinwald would not answer any of our questions about why his name and the company are using someone else’s licenses. He hung up on the I-TEAM when we asked for comment.

Most of the complaints sent to our I-TEAM involve homeowners, like Candace and Robert Adams, who pay deposits for work that is either never started or not completed. Here’s what you should know to protect yourself:

Never pay for work not completed, ie: deposits.

Google the company, owner, worker’s name. You would be surprised what you can find with a simple internet search.

Search the Better Business Bureau website for any complaints filed against the company you are thinking about hiring

Search the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's website and type in the company or owner’s name to check if the company is licensed and if any complaints have been filed against it or its owner.

Can you trust Freddie Reinwald and his Ripoff Report?

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, February 02, 2018

Freddie Reinwald has made a lot of poor decisions according to his own Facebook page. Smearing the name of me, my wife, and 99 Calls is one of them. This was a B2B relationship but Freddie went nuts and made it very personal. Not cool. Not professional.

Can you believe Freddie's claims against 99 Calls?

Freddie made lots of crazy statements, but reality is 99 Calls has only one negative review and its by crazy Freddie. A crazy man who would not talk to us but only insisted through email that he get a full refund and if he didn't he would tell the world we are a scam.

Can you trust Freddie?

Here's Freddie's own words from his Facebook page:

Through all of this, I have learned that if you want to succeed you should strike out on new paths, rather than travel the worn paths of accepted success.

Also note that Freddie illegaly stole content from Prospect Genius to write his Ripoff Report:

https://www.prospectgenius.com/blog/are-you-spending-your-advertising-dollars-wisely/.

This article is biased as Prospect Genius is a competitor, and the intent is to persuade potential customers to avoid lower cost options. Notice how they slyly mentioned snake oil and 99 Calls in the same paragraph, without actually saying anything about 99 Calls. It's like saying Prospect Genius is an SEO company. And many SEO companies are about effective as snake oil. ;)

It is a shame that Ripoff Report chooses to host this copyrighted material and that Google continues to index this copyright protected material and that Prospect Genius hasn't chosen to protect their copyrighted material.

If you wish to talk to Freddie about his experience with 99 Calls, please call him at (((REDACTED))). His company is "Roofing Professionals of Texas" aka "RoofingProTx, Inc", the website is http://www.roofingprotx.com/.

Almost forgot, Freddie's credit card company investigated 99 Calls at his request ... they found NO evidence of fraud and denied his claim. Mind you that credit card companies almost always side with the consumer when sales are not in person. They could have easily taken the refund from our merchant account, but they didn't. They found in favor of 99 Calls.

Also, Freddie's lawyers still haven't called. No surprise. We assume they told him he had no case.

And, Freddie's business "Roofing Professionals of Florida" is now gone! Google it. Hmmm, who's fly by night?

Can you trust 99 Calls?

If you are considering 99 Calls for lead generation, please note that this is our only negative review. But 99 Calls has many many 5 star reviews from local businesses across the USA including roofers, painters, plumbers, cleaners, electricians, remodelers, handymen, landscapers, damage restoration companies and more.

Freddie Reinwald - Roofing Professionals of Texas

#5REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, October 05, 2017

This is a rebuttal to Ripoff Report by “miahoutx”, who in reality is Frederick H. Reinwald, aka Freddie Reinwald, of “Roofing Professionals of Texas” and “Roofing Professionals of Florida”.

Mr. Reinwald hired us on March 7th, 2017 for 10 months of lead generation service for two businesses, Roofing Professionals of Texas and Roofing Professionals of Florida. At that time it was clearly communicated that we use search engine optimization to promote businesses and that it can take several months to rise to the first page of search engines where potential customers will find and call his businesses directly. It was communicated clearly that lead volume is generally low in the first few months and will increase over time.

Over the next 5 months we had a normal professional relationship with Mr. Reinwald and his businesses. On August 8th, 2017, we performed a routine account review of his websites and sent him the reports, which showed that both of his sites had dozens of keywords ranking on the first page of Google. We also posted a 5-star review on his company Facebook page stating, “Very professional. Freddie from Roofing Pros is great to work with and takes pride in his business. He’s been a pleasure to do business with.” This review was true at the time of posting, but is no longer true, and has been removed.

On August 9th, 2017 Mr. Reinwald emailed claiming that we posted a fake review, compromised his integrity, and committed fraud. The email stated we’d better contact him:

“very quickly in reference to full refund asap, or should we just skip that and have our attorneys contact the Florida Attorney General’s office along with the DBPR and as many other agencies as needed? Your agency has committed fraud. Out and out fraud. You are engaged in deceptive and unfair trade on not one but BOTH of my offices. This will be addressed IMMEDIATELY with a complete refund for both offices and relinquish all access to our systems IMMEDIATELY, or the results will be very harsh and swift. Take this seriously. This is my final notification to your agency.”

We quickly replied to try to resolve the issue and Mr. Reinwald responded:

"Maybe you misunderstood. This wasn’t a negotiation. I will interpret your reply as you will not be providing me with a complete refund for your flagrant false statements, false pretense of what you have provided and do provide along with the good old bait and switch as well as deceptive trade practices, to name a few. As such, expect to hear from our attorneys as well as the various entities mentioned in the previous email. For the record, I do a better job at your job than you and I assure you that your agency will get the proper attention this matter needs on social media and our numerous blogs and such. Good luck and thank you for making this a lot easier by not doing what’s right. You can do whatever you think you need to do right now. As of today, you will no longer have any access to any of my sites nor social media. You mistakenly took me for someone who you could play games with and feed me a line of crap and appease me with platitudes and digital jargon. My attorneys have a much larger grasp on this and are better suited to address this.”

On August 11th, 2017 we were able to reach Mr. Reinwald via phone. He was belligerent and unable to have a 2-way conversation. The call ended with Mr. Reinwald yelling the following ... “I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t have anything to say to you. The simple answer is a full refund. Short of that, go f*ck yourself. I’ll take care of it myself. It’s very simple, I don’t want to talk.”

During the initial 5 months of service, we produced 9 true leads for Mr. Reinwald’s business. This excludes all non-sales oriented calls such as telemarketers, personal calls, calls for employment, etc. We have recordings of these leads, which were provided to Mr. Reinwald and associates. Below is a summary of the leads.

Date, Location, Service

7/20/2017, Maxville FL, Installing Gutters - 293 linear feet, 8 downspouts

7/30/2017, Jacksonville FL, Emergency Roofing Service

6/8/2017, Keystone Heights FL, Replace gutters with copper

7/9/2017, Jacksonville FL, Double wide with spots in need of repair

Mr. Reinwald’s claim of 3 leads and 2 were telemarketers is incorrect. We have phone recordings, emails, times and dates to prove the leads above are genuine. It is well known that with organic placement, lead volume generally increases over time. It is normal for customers to receive more leads in the second half of the 10-month program than in the first. Marketing and lead generation is subject to variation, however, it is reasonable to expect Mr. Reinwald’s businesses would have received at least another 20+ leads, bringing his total into the range of 20 to 100 leads that customers typically experience in the first year with our service.

Mr. Reinwald stated that “you have to do all the work”. It is important to recognize that marketing is a collaborative effort. Collaboration requires effort on both sides. Not much is required from our customers but in order to show potential customers your great work we ask you to provide photos. To demonstrate that you are a reputable business with satisfied customers, we ask for testimonials and request reviews from current and past customers. To create great website content we ask you to tell us about your business.

It can be easy to miss the effort required to build a highly optimized lead generating website for one’s business. It can also be easy to underestimate the effort required to optimize business listings to make the information accurate, consistent, and authoritative, thereby building trust with search engines. It can be difficult to understand the time and resources necessary to monitor listings and websites for known problems such as negative reviews and performance issues. Prior to March 6th, Roofing Professionals of Texas had a 2.3-star rating on Facebook. There were two 1-star reviews and one 5-star review (from Frederick Reinwald’s wife). After alerting him to the problem, he now has a 4.2-star rating and 42 reviews.

It seems incredible that Mr. Reinwald believes that he did all the work to get his site ranking and generate leads. We put Mr. Reinwald’s businesses on the 1st page of Google for dozens of keywords in just 5 months. We sent him reports proving this fact. When we started, his businesses could only be found on Google by company name.

We did the work we said we would do for Mr. Reinwald and that labor was only just beginning to produce leads. His companies would have done well to continue with the 10-month program that he initiated. It is very unfortunate for both of us that Mr. Reinwald was unable to communicate in a productive manner and work together to resolve any concerns.

The above facts speak for themselves. Mr. Reinwald is publishing false statements and engaging in defamation. Mr. Reinwald is willfully attempting to damage our business and harm individuals via his online publications. His behavior is malicious and illegal. Ripoff reports are permanent. It is unfortunate this cannot be undone, as it affects us both. Mr. Reinwald stated his attorney would be contacting us. We welcome professional representation for Mr.Reinwald in this matter and will be happy to speak with anyone in this matter.

Business owners, if you do not want your business associated with a Ripoff Report, please don’t file a Ripoff Report. Try to work together with your vendor to resolve issues. We made a good faith effort to work with Roofing Professionals of Texas. Ripoff Reports are permanent.
