Walter, Let me clarify the ICC# thing. It no longer exists, as it is now an MC# and has been for several years. Was this deal done directly with the "carrier" or was it done through a broker? If it was through a broker, you can get your money back easily. Just file a claim against the Broker's bond. Either way, go to the FMCSA website and go to "carrier snapshot" to get the info you need, and to file a complaint while on that site. Every commercial vehicle needs a USDOT#. The MC# is required on any vehicle for hire that crosses state lines. The MC# replaced the ICC# several years ago. ICC no longer exists. Be sure that your contract does not have a clause in it for "incidental" charges. Good luck!
