My son’s Vehicle was park in an Apartment visitor parking area of Hammerly Walk Apartments, 5757 Hammerly Rd.Houston Texas 77080. AAA M Wrecker service towed vehicle stating “NOT PARKED FRONT IN" Tow Driver Name: Cuauhtémoc Agustin Martinez. Note: No signs stating parking head in only. Wrecker service sign not visible from spot where vehicle was parked, Sign was over grown by tree/bush (Pictures taken on 7/12/2013, 8 AM) AAA M Signs in Visitor parking area only state Visitor Parking Only.
Vehicle was towed on 7/11/2013 at 9:05 PM, No answer from phone # 713-269-0747, Police were called after no answer from AAA M, Police stated vehicle was towed and at Poppy Auto Storage Inc, 5710 Campbell Rd. Hou Tx 77041. Called Poppy Auto Storage around 2:39 am, 7/12/2013 talked to some angry man, If he only knew how angry I was!!!! Great thing! angry man in a tow truck shows up speeding through the parking lot at Poppy Auto Storage, wanting to have an angry man yelling contest. After he looked at the Information for the tow, He stated that AAA M Wrecker Service had illegally towed several vehicles from that Apartment complex. Just so happens the person being visited at Hammerly Walk Apt. had another visitor, get their vehicle towed for visitor parking for the same reason. Their vehicle was actually returned to Hammerly Walk Apt, Visitor parking area by AAA M Wrecker at no charge!!!! The man at Poppy Auto Storage, suggested not to pay the storage fee until we talked to the Apartment manager in the morning. Oh! How his attitude changed after he saw what was happening!
8:00 A.M. Hammerly Walk Apartments, Talked to Apartment Manager. Asked her why the vehicle was towed? After looking at her info, she said, Oh you were not parked in head first. I informed her the Parking signs in the Visitor parking area only stated “Visitor Parking Only” I asked if she wanted to go look ? And that I had already taken pictures of the visitor parking area and all the signs. She immediately got on the phone to Agustin Martinez (713-283-4325). I could hear her talking on the phone, No, not in the Visitor parking area!!!!! After she got off the phone she said here and wrote down a name and phone number “Agustin 713-283-4325” she said call this guy when you get to the storage lot and the car will be released to you at no charge.
Well after wasting my whole night, back to Poppy Auto Storage, Only to have to deal with the rude persons behind the glass customer window. I asked why I could not see the person I was dealing with? The reply was it’s for our protection. Now I see why the towing and storage lot industry has a bad name! To me it felt like I was dealing with 3 crooks, The Apartment complex, AAA M Wrecker, And Poppy Storage Lot. I got the car back no Storage fee, No Apology, No reason. Called HPD to report this incident, not knowing how to report it. Called it in as a stolen vehicle. HPD said oh it was not stolen it was just towed. I informed HPD that it was an illegal tow and asked what should be done. His statement was “No harm, No foul “you got your car back…
