As the owner of this AAMCO shop , it truly hurts me that someone could not only lie but , try to hurt a man that at the time was in the hospital having brain surgery to remove cancer . This customers vehicle came from a BMW dealer where the customer was advised he had a computer & transmission problem . After my shop checked the vehicle we found the same exact problem & advised the customer that the transmission need to be either repaired or replaced & it needed to be taken apart to determine what was needed to repair the vehicle but , once the transmission issues were corrected it would have to go back to BMW to replace the computer . The customer agreed & we proceeded . Once the transmission was apart I called & gave home the 2 choices to repair the transmission ' he chose repairing his & not replacing it & asked if he could come to the shop to see what he was having fixed & came about an hour later . We went over everything & I explained that I was going in the hospital the next morning for brain surgery & would be out for at least a week & asked him what dealer he wanted us to arrange to have it towed to to replace the computer . He chose Wide World BMW & I called while he was in my office & spoke to Mike In service . Not only was he aware of this but , gave me his credit card info for the payment at the dealer to pay BMW for the computer . After a few days when his transmission repair wS complete , my son who is also a part of my company called & told the customer the vehicle was being towed to the dealer & once it is finished it would need to come back to our shop so we could do all the final checks & road tests with the proper working computer in it . 2 weeks later my son called Mike at the dealer & was told by Mike that the customer Declined replacing the computer & picked the vehicle up without replacing the computer , OR PAYING US FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR . When my son called the customer he was told the transmission is not working correctly , & my son said to him , the computer operates the transmission so of coarse it can't work properly which you were told by the dealer prior to bringing it to us , & also by my father before we ever touched your car . YOU WERE AWARE OF THE COMPUTER NEEDING REPLACEMENT & THAT IS WHY YOU GAVE MY FATBER THE CREDIT CARD INFORMATION TO LAY THE DEALER BEFORE BE WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL . Also you need to pay our bill as well . To sum it up from there , I had to take him to court & show the judge all the paper work at which time I was told I could charge him criminally with stealing his vehicle which I did not want to do : I was awarded the money & even told the customer to bring the car to me & I will help him get the computer replaced so his car would be 100% Perfect . It is people like that that cause our world to be as messed up as it has become . Some People just have no honor Anymore which is hurting all of us . Imagine trying to get over on someone while his life is on the line . How can this *** SLEEP AT NIGHT .

Rarely am I inclined to believe what I have read but this, is believable. Not all of the incident because of likely misunderstanding but the jest of it and the finial outcome are frightening.
AAMCO in Pearl River, New York. did not fix your car, (what is the make and model by the way) they don't know how I would also assume.
Do not return that vehicle to them they will hold it until they get your money. Since you have been getting the run around with obvious misleading statements if not outright lies. But this you already knew.
I cannot help but to notice that AAMCO Pearl River has no negative reviews on GOOGLE. You should leave one to help the next consumer to know with whom you are dealing. You should likewise do so on Yelp.
