AAMCO ripoff mistreated and ripped off support a local tranny specialist who's reputation, AND LIVELY HOOD is on the line, rather than a big corporation who really doesn't care. Greeley Colorado
They say "Here at AAMCO of Greeley we stake our reputation on our award-winning customer service. As your local, independent AAMCO dealer, we want to make sure you're satisfied with the service you receive..."
Yeah right. This story is very old but since I just found this site I thought I'd add my two-cents. As with any company, I'm sure there ARE good AAMCO dealer's. My issue is with Greeley AAMCO on 29th ST in Greeley, AND corporate AAMCO.
Here's a VERY BRIEF accounting of my story:
We owned a 1987 Plymouth Voyager in whch the tranny died. Took it you know where. We had a long trip planned to see my parents in TN. Drove ALMOST there before the tranny started slipping. [IT had just been COMPLETELY rebuilt (really? Hmmm)].
We nursed it to my folks house and called AAMCO. Of course it was still under warranty. Well they wouldn't service it in town at a local tranny shop. No we had to drive all the way to Chatanooga to a AAMCO dealer to have it fixed. Took us 2 hrs to get there (rememeber the tranny was slipping).
The Chatanooga dealership fixed the tranny but also said that themotor-mounts were bad and that they would not warrant the repair unless they were both replaced. Well the front motor mount was BRAND NEW. I just had it replaced before we left! Upon inpecting the 'bad' rear motor mount, I couldn;t tell the differecn from the new one.
I'm sure I could have sued but our lives were hectic as most of ours are these days so we just got back home and traded the mini-van in for a new car.
In closing, this was about 10 years ago so there may be new owners of the Greeley AAMCO, and maybe even corporate has changed, but I doubt it. Better to support a local tranny specialist who's reputation, AND LIVELY HOOD is on the line, rather than a big corporation who really doesn't care.
