aamco took me big time (#4283)
CONSUMER ADVISE:
If you can document that you had your vehicle into Aamco for many repairs during the first year, you would have a very good case. I would suggest that you do a few things.
1) Write a letter to the Aamco shop which did the repairs letting them know that you are dissatisfied and that you would like your vehicles transmission repaired, since it was never fixed correctly. Of course at no cost. Be polite but strong.
2) Write a letter to the Aamco headquarters, letting them know of the problem, and that you want your transmission fixed correctly at no charge. Again, be polite but strong.
Make sure this is all done in writing. Also make sure to send the letters certified, return receipt. You will need the proof that they received them. If you can, fax the letters as well.
3) Take your vehicle to your dealer and get an estimate for repairs.
4) Go to your small claims office and start the paperwork. Make sure to include all your expenses, including rental car, time off work, etc. Make sure to list your expenses about 20 to 30 percent over the small claims maximum. This way should the judge disallow some expenses, you should still get the maximum. Many times I've seen judges give people more than the maximum!
Good luck and hope for the best. I've seen many companies including Aamco just refund your money instead of going to court. If this happens, I would take the refund.
