My family and I checked in Adam's Mark Hotel on July 19,2002 for Miss American Coed Pageants weekend, we were paying in cash at arrvial, but the man clerk at the desk said the hotel required the deposit each night to add per room costs. It would cost us more so we have not enought cash to cover the three days plus deposit so we use our credit card, I told the man clerk at desk to not charge anything till we checked out to be paid by cash.

We checked out on July 22, 2002, we got the bill paper from the door in the morning that we owe hotel $428.24 so my hearing daugther and I (deaf)went downstair to paid a cash to the lady clerk at a front desk when we checked out, I asked her for a reciept for cash, she told us that that bill I got is for a reciept. I had to ask her to make sure that it will be not charge my credit card, the clerk told my daugther that it will not have to be charged anything as long as I paid in cash so we left.

Till Last August 14, 2002, we got the credit card billing statement, it showed that they charged us $428.24, I was very upset so I called the Adam's Mark Hotel about that, they wanted to see my reciept so I faxed it to them. I was told that itself was NOT receipt! I told them about that lady clerk at desk said it was receipt! so they had been checked their account that day we checked out to see if it could be overcash or missing. I was told that they could not find anything error! I kept telling them that I paid in cash honestly! That clerk has been not input into the computer that showed I paid in cash and she told us it was a receipt! I realized it was a wrong receipt! I spoke with the manager at hotel, he had been investigated them to see anything no error at all, he even refused to credit my charge without a CASH receipt, I knew the hotel has a sercuity video camera, the manager said yes, they do But, they had been recorded in only 7 days. It should be in 30 days like a billing cycle! If they do in 30 days, it will show them that proof I paid in cash to that clerk at desk! Even my daugther saw me gave the clerk the money that I already paid! They had been checked in an accounting dept, it showed nothing that I paid in cash.

I told the manager that cash could be missing or taken without any trace! All thing he says, "Ah.. Ah.. Ah.... Ah...I understand, but I refused to credit my charge without a cash receipt!" What kind of management is he in! I felt that was unfair and I already became a victim! Since I paid double total

$856.48 by cash and Charged! I had been gone to any hotels that I had no problems in past time that they usually gave the receipt to me whenever I paid the cash or charged, either. I kept trace my budget. Now It hit me very hard! They ripped me off from that hotel! It is unbelieved. I have a witness that she saw me paid a cash!

I have an another vicitm like this happen excatly by even a same lady clerk at same hotel on that day we checked out! I am NOT letting them get away with it! I am asking for a refund or credt my charge card or get the ceritificate for a free three nights to cover that amount I already paid in CASH honestly!!

I work in the hotel industry. Most hotels employ honest, hard working individuals who want to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. Unfortunately, there are some hotel employees out there who only care about eeking through life and making some extra pocket change. When checking out of a hotel and paying cash, ALWAYS make sure you get a receipt showing your balance is $0.00. This will be your proof from the hotel that you paid in cash. If you are double-billed, this is what you will need to prove to the Credit Card company when you dispute the charge. In most cases, it will show the name of the front desk agent who checked you out and could be walking around with your cash.
