NME Magazines talked my parents into an order for 4 years of various magazines (4) that they were interested in and charged them 70.00 for 4 months. When I caught this my parent's who had no idea what they had ordered asked me to cancel the order. They would only cancel what had not been paid for the last 2 months of payment. They would only receive the 4 mags for 2 years not 4. They were to also receive 6 other trash mags.

Now we are talking about a white couple who are 80 years old and 75 years old, one with parkingson's and one with alzheimer's. These were the "free" mags they were to receive...Vixen, INK, Shape, Muscle and Fitness, Body and Soul, and Seed. When I realized these were their choices I told them NOT to send them. They sent them anyway.

Thinking this was the end of it with the cancellation. I thought nothing more about it... until recently. Checking behind my parent's I found that they were being charged for a service that was part of the original offer. WHat I didn't know was that this is a linked group BUT one has to call to a separate number to cancel this NEW charge. They only cancelled the last 2 months, January and December BUT wouldn't credit the charges for the months following my phone call to the original group.

Of course there is no recourse of course they insisted my parent's ordered this crap. Interestingly enough both have no clue what is going on.

You know full well that your company is taking advantage of people...i don't know how you can sleep at night...I personally work with older people and you know full well that these people were taken advantage of. They probably didn't even know what was going on and your "company" if it can even be called that bilked these poor people out of their money. It must be nice to not have a concious.... Deborah

Personally, I'm sorry that they didn't know what they were ordering, but we do explain in detail what they are ordering and getting into and inform them that they can cancel at any time and we actually give the phone numbers to cancel the day of ordering, plus it comes with the packet... Again, I can understand your concern, but if this were to ever go to court, I'm 99% sure we have recorded documentation and authorization that shows that we explained this to them in full detail. When you and other people go around bashing this company for fraud because you're upset, it hurts the people that work for the company... We are innocent, but putting us on all these fraud reports because you're upset is not nice. Maryann is a worker for a business just like anyone else, if you called in and had a little temper or were disrespectful, naturally another human being will be a little defensive... It is not the way we conduct business or should, but sometimes when you back even a trained lion into a corner, he's going to go off at some point. We have to deal with cranky callers all the time, more than half of them are only cranky about the sweepstakes... I don't personally know Maryann but you mentioned her and I can assure you, there's probably 20 marryanns in the company.... So she isn't a supervisor per se, or some lady in an office with control over the company... just lighten up, call back, get someone to help you... just like any other sales business... Thank you...
