Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
cash advanced was dishonest with me

they put a check thru without telling me , they usually call me to tell me my due date. although this time they didn't. they said they called me and left a message.

althought the phone they called has been turned off for more than 3 months. there was no way they could have called and reminded me, like they always did. i had an overdraft charge because of that. that means bad business.

i called them and they said sorry. but they are very bad business people.

should i consider it as a ripoff?

To the former employee, you are a jerk and make it just that much harder for us to collect what is owed. Yes I work for AA currently however I DO NOT do any illegal collections. I follow the protocol so they will have to find a d**n good reason to fire me. I have ONLY worked with the company about 5 months and yes I am about done myself but, I would not give out business practice info just to hurt the company. Guess what it doesn't it hurts the employees.

As far as trying to get out of paying your debts. You agreed, I understand things happen but come on. I am currently a card holder of CareCredit. I needed dental work done and I didn't have insurance. I lost my job a year after charging 3 grand in dental bills to the card. They didn't care, they didn't reduce my payment. (I never asked about balance because I AGREED to pay them back!!!)

It sucks but such is life. If you feel that negatively about AA don't use em!

I was a manager for Advance America in Michigan for 2 years. Every state has different laws concerning payday advances. Advance America makes it their business to know just how far they can go. In Michigan, Advance America does not use collection agencies (I can't recall any state using them.)They can take you to court if you have less than 3 consecutive loans. If you have 4 or more CONSECUTIVE loans the company won't allow the manager to file against you. Advance America employees do all their own collections and they will say anything to get the money because the companies' bonuses are set up in such a way that you'd have to be a collections expert to make bonus. Also, employees are only allowed to make contact with you once a day, that includes messages. They will call your home, your cell, your work and all your references every day. They can also visit your work, your home and all your references every day. But they can only "make contact" once a day, includung messages. Do not call the district manager to complain. They know whats up, (but they won't admit it), if the branch makes bonus so do they. They don't care how the employees get the money as long as they don't get caught. There is an 800 number on a large sign in the lobby of each Advance America. Call that number and raise hell, every day if you have to. You may not know from what they tell you, but sparks WILL fly, investigations WILL start in that district, the CEO and legal team WILL fly into that state. Obviously, they don't want to be shut down because most of their employees are involved in illegal collections. I am not blaming the employees. The company has spent a lot of money to make sure they have their butt covered legally, but they encourage illegal collections through their bonus structure and compitition of branches, districts and states. Employees will do anything and say anything to get that money from you; that's how they get paid.

The Advance America in my town has a safeguard against that whole web of advances thing. They only allow you to get an advance two times in a row. Maybe your guys' branches broke that rule. I don't know. And Christina, it's your fault. Pay on the due date.

Last year work was slow and my fiancee was very ill. I got a loan for 300.00 and I had to keep getting the loan becuase it was getting harder to pay them back because of our income I was the only one working at the time anyway they put there check in and it bounced at the same time I was getting a new checking account with another bank. We worked out a payment plan to pay them off and I wrote post dated checks to them to be paid on certain days when I get paid. Can you talk to a supervisor? The reason why my check bounced was because Well Fargo wasn't crediting my direct deposit the same day like other banks do so I owed them alot of money for everything that bounced that day. That was also the reason why the check advance place couldn't get there money for a while But you should try to talk to someone in person and tell them what is going on and see if you can make smaller payments until you are paid. They will send it to a collection agency if you don't pay them. And to Christiana It is you're fault that you're check bounced don't blame this company you knew you had to pay this why didn't you call and tell them the money wasn't in the bank. You knew you're phone was disconnected for 3 months go to a pay phone. You should be apologizing to them.

To make a long story short, I have been stuck paying Advance America Pay Day Loans for over 2 years now. It's a web I cannot get out of. It started with a small loan and now has grown. Their signs say that $300 is their maximum loan but around 9 months ago I was told that if I write them 2 checks (one for $345 and the other for $115) I could get $400. Well, I fell for it. I lost my job over 4 months ago and told them but they still continue to loan me the money because I can not get out. Now, my unemployment check has been cut out and I can not pay them at all. Until now I had been pretty prompt. They are sending the checks through the bank Monday but the money is not there. As a matter of fact, the account I am using has been closed for several months. I asked them to transfer it to my new account months ago but they said that would be too much paperwork. What can they do to me if I don't pay? In the past 2 years I have figured I have paid them over $2000 just in interest! Please help!

Advance America is a good company

I feel that you should not be angry at Advance America, you should be angry at yourself. I have used Advance America several times and have never had a problem. Though I know you may be upset about having an overdraft on your bank account, you cannot blame the company for that. Prior to receiving the advance you committed to paying the money back on your payday, that is something that you decided to commit to. You also can't blame them for not contacting you. If you were going to be late, then the responsibility lays on your shoulders to let them know that. I think that in the future if you are not sure that you can pay the advance off on the specified date, you shouldn't put yourself in that position.
