A representative of Advantage America phoned me, telling me I qualified for a government grant of $12,500 and there was a processing fee of $49.95. I told him I only had $10.36 in my bank account. I was broke, unemployed and couldn't pay the fee. He told me he wouldn.t take the fee out of my account until after the government grant was deposited. I told him I was skeptical of the offer. He gave me his address and phone number (1-866-503-7345) and other phone numbers...1-800-518-4726 (Government Grants) and 1-800-928-8939 (easyrate.com). This was a number to use to cancel an offer of 2 free months of Vonage and Health Insurance, if not sattisfied. Since his call was on Sat. Jan. 14th, a holiday weekend, I couldn't confirm these phone numbers until at least Tues. When I called the customer service # for Advantage America (several times thru out the week) all I could get was a recording that all reps. were busy, to hold on for the next available one. Anyway, I was stupid, and gave him my acct. number when he called. There was no government grant deposited but the $49.95 fee was taken out of my acct. on that Weds., making my acct. overdrawn with an additional overdrawn fee of $35.00.
