I was referred to A&E Factory Service by Whirlpool when I needed a warranty repair on my new front loader washing machine. I was very pleased with the tech and decided to call the company again when I needed my oven & dishwasher repaired. The 2nd tech was also very pleasent.

However, the problem occured after I paid for the 2nd visit. I wrote a check and gave it to the tech. Once I received my bank statement I realized A&E/Sears had not only deposited my check they also converted it into an electronic withdrawl too. I immediately contacted my bank and had one of the debits credited back to my account. That's when the problem started....

I received a letter from Certegy (a debt recovery company) indicating that I owed Sears for the stop payment on the electronic withdrawl plus a $30 fee(the second debit they made to my acount). On that letter was my checking account number, amount of the check, check number, my name & address. I also received a form Certegy wanted me to fill out. Here's some of the information they wanted on that from: My social security number, my drivers license number & state issued (copies of both), same information if my checking account was jointly held, my mother's madien name, the password on my checking account, etc....(No, I did not fill out the form).

I had never heard of Certegy- I looked them up on the BBB. Not a good report at all... If you are interested- It's a good read if it's not about you.

Now, I have another full time job proving to the incompetent customer service reps at A&E and Certegy that the bill was paid. I had a good experience with both techs- No luck at all with the people that sit behind the phone. Uneducated-No common sense-

My opinion/advise...Even though the techs were friendly/knowledgeable, it's not worth the hassle. I would not do business with any comany associated with Certegy (you will feel the same once you read the BBB report). It's too easy for someone to use your personal inforamtion. Your good credit means everything- Protect it!
