In September, All My Sons packed all my belongings and furniture and moved it all into their local warehouse where it would stay until Saturday, October 18. On 10/18/08, it was agreed upon that the furniture would then be delivered to my new home.

I confirmed the 10/18/08 delivery date a few days in advance, and I was told the furniture would arrive as scheduled. It did not! I called several times that day only to find that the company had screwed up and was sending an 'empty' moving van to my new house to pick up furniture rather than sending my stored furniture to my new empty house.

At 2 PM, they finally got it right, but I was told they were having a difficult time finding men to load my furniture from their warehouse onto the two vans. They said they would deliver my furniture on Saturday night! I told them 'No'.

The furniture was finally delivered from their warehouse on Monday, October 20. Evidently, they loaded my furniture onto the two vans on Saturday night in a rushed, clumsy fashion.

One leg on an ebony grand piano bench was broken off totally; the delicate fretwork on an expensive Henredon mahogany end table was broken off and crushed into splinters; a deep gouge was on the end of a king-sized sleigh bed.

I was not a happy camper. Then, I was told by the driver that I owed them almost $2000 more. I balked. I asked to speak to the Manager of the company. The Manager was unavailable when I called; however, I could hear him talking to the driver on the driver's cell while we all stood in my kitchen.

I demanded an itemized list of the 'extra' charges when I finally spoke with an office person. He stumbled around and could not give it to me; said he'd call me back. He didn't!

I called the Office again. I told the office person that the cost of the broken piano bench, the broken end table, the gouged sleigh bed, and their failure to deliver the furniture on the promised date was equal to more than their 'extra' charges. I also told him that 'bad press' to Angie's List would surely not be good for their business.

I suggested that we call it a 'wipe' and drop all the extra charges rather than their having to pay for expensive furniture that was broken. He said 'OK' and told the driver to 'write it off'. So, with some consolation, I did not have to pay any more money and got them out of my house quickly.

This group wouldn't know a sewer line from a sirloin! They were totally disorganized, lacking in basic management skills, and basically incompetent as business persons.

So they offered to fix their scheduling mistake and deliver later on the same day, but you told them no and then turned around and complained that they didn't deliver on the same day? It sounds like you have every right to complain about the time management and the damage, but the "failure to deliver on the day indicated" sounds like your fault if you down-right refused their delivery time. Night or not, I don't understand why you would tell them no in the first place.
