Allied Barton Security High Turn Around? I wonder why. Waterford Connecticut
I had been employed up until today with Allied Barton Security as a Security Shift Supervisor assigned to the Crystal Mall in Waterford, Connecticut. My tenure at the company was short one, and one that needs to be shared with those considering employment with this company.
First off, I knew before I started that I was by far overqualified for the position, and even more overqualified for the pitiful $11/hour I was being paid. ($1/hour more than everyone else) I had served in the U.S. Army for 6 years, 4 of them as an Army Ranger, so I felt I had something special to bring to the table with me when I applied for my supervisory position.
Upon being offered the position, I had learned that I needed to obtain my state of CT "guard card" at my expense ($165 for 5 years) before I could begin work. When that was completed, I was asked to report to work for "On the Job Training" or "OJT". My first impression of the work site was not a good one, for the "Assistant Director" of security, and the person that was going to train me was an overweight 20 year old high school dropout. As I met the officers one by one that would be working with me, I continued to learn that there was a corrupt system of theft and drug use within the security department, and also learned how easy it was to get away with pretty much anything at this site.
After my training was completed, which consisted of walking the mall perimeter for 16 hours and talking about football, I had the difficult task of actually learning the policies and procedures on my own, while responding to incidents as they occured. As stated above, the security team assigned to protect the property, was more corrupt than the patrons we were suppose to be watching. I learned my first day as Supervisor where the guards went to smoke weed, what stores were the easiest to steal from, and which exit to leave from should a tenant actually catch you.
To make this long story a bit shorter, I was terminated today, because I had relieved the supervisor before me 20 minutes early, since he had a family emergency to tend to, and I was at work early anyways, so why not? My directors excuse was that we "logged" that he left at his scheduled time, and that I started at my scheduled time when there was actually an 18 (to be exact) minute differential. In all actuality, I saved the company money doing what I did, because now they didn't have to pay me any overtime, and the Supervisory role was covered at all times. After this bizarre and exaggerated turn of events, I decided not to turn in my evidence of theivery and Drug Abuse within the department, and instead will focus my efforts into finding a more worthy employer, and shunning away any further "overqualified" potential employees from Allied Barton.
On a personal level, watch where you park at the Crystal Mall in waterford, CT. There is 1 camera in the parking lots and it is trained 24/7 on the Mall Managers vehicle.

My cousin and i both were burned by this bunch of THUGS disguised as providing SECURITY for clients! I wonder what they paid the mall manager for giving them the contract --because that is USUALLY how it works. I was in this business for 20 years! Stuff like what you described here happens all the time and people who find out about it and REPORT it find out that NOBODY gives a d**n and most of the people who work for the company are too ignorant, illiterate and crooked to care OR they are getting a cut of the action. PEOPLE WHO REPORT THESE THINGS WILL BE BLACKLISTED! WITH YOUR CREDENTIALS, YOU DID NOT NEED TO BE WASTING YOUR TIME AND PUTTING YOUR GOOD REPUTATION ON THE LINE BY CONSORTING WITH THESE THUGS! YOU SHOULD BE A REAL COP AND FORGET YOU EVER WORKED FOR THESE PEOPLE And I'll tell you something else -- ALL SECURITY COMPANIES LIKE THIS ARE THE SAME -- FROM BLACKWATER to the lowest mom and pop security company---I wonder if they had time to SKIM from your wages yet. Or had time to set you up to take the fall for some of the crookedness when they realized that your salary was more than they intended to pay! You do your job and then they hang you out to dry and frame you up. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CHECK WITH RIP OFF REPORT IF YOU EVER WANT TO WORK FOR PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES AGAIN! MY ADVICE TO YOU -- DON'T UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE BLACKBALLED AND BOYCOTTED FROM ANY REAL MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT! Consider yourself lucky that you didn't stay long enough to have to list this farce of a crooked job on your resume and FIND ANOTHER LINE OF WORK!
