Thank you for posting this report. At least I know now that the offers Allstate sends in the mail to get my business are bogus. (I suspected it, but you have confirmed the bait and switch action through this report)
You did exactly the right thing by finding another vendor for your insurance. If you can not trust your agent of 30 years to quote the exact right price for your son's insurance, who can you trust for an accurate quote?
For those of you that might defend Allstate by saying there was an error: its not the fact that the quote was in error, it is how the error is handled once it is discovered. The author did the right thing IMO by finding another insurance company. So now Allstate loses a new customer (her son) and a 30 yr customer.
