Beware of the practices of Allstate Insurance Company. In the state of New Jersey, not in all states, Allstate Insurance company is allowed to charge a premium for watercraft insurance and if canceled before the renew date is allowed to keep all your premium. I sold my boat 5 months before the end of the policy date. I was informed if I did not cancel my insurance that I would be committing insurance fraud. I therefore canceled my boat insurance with Allstate. They informed me that there would be no refund because it is there policy. The state of New Jersey said the same. I checked other companies in New Jersey and found that this is a common practice of Allstate Insurance company not other insurance companies. It seems that New Jersey and Allstate are in bed with each other. I have contacted Allstate Corp., the board of directors, the CEO Thomas Wilson -they don't care. They prefer you to commit fraud and steal your money. New Jersey says sorry the commissioner of insurance allows it with Allstate. The Governer of New Jersey will not reply to my letters. He must be only interested in running for President. If you are thinking about being insured by Allstate see your attorney first. Have them review all contracts( if Allstate will send them to you) first. After all that go to a another company and buy insurance elsewhere. Allstate gives you options: Commit fraud or be robbed by Allstate.

You have been writing letters and such, why not have some fun.
File a small claims suit for your estimated refund plus fees. The nice person at the court house will help you.
1 of 2 Things will happen. They will neglect to show for court and you probably win. OR they show up and they win, but as its an Insurance company they just spent 5 or 10 times as much in lawyers fees than it would have cost to refund you.
AND they have to stand in front of the Judge and justify not refunding you when every other state and every other insurance company would. Great Fun!
