In many companys with new accounts there is constant fraud with newer lines of service. A company takes risk when setting up a customer with no deposit on accounts. They have no history of how you use your phone yet so they monitor NEW accounts to trend usage and YES BELIEVE IT OR NOT PROTECT YOU! HOW DO THEY PROTECT YOU BY TURNING OFF YOUR PHONE? WELL WIRELESS INDUSTRY KEY TERMS YOU MAY WANT TO MAKE YOURSELF FAMILIAR WITH ARE CLONING.. STOLEN ESN'S, OR PLAIN OUT INDENTITY FRAUD! LOOK THESE UP OR CALL YOUR CARRIER AND ASK THEM WHAT THIS MEANS... LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT AND THEN THINK, GEE MAYBE THIS HUGE CORPORTATION THAT PAYS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE EMPLOYEES CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT ARE DOING MORE THEN JUST RIPPING YOU OFF. I personally know this because my phone was cloned and somebody was using my phone numver and my serial number on a dummy phone in NY CITY letting people call constantly for 2 days long distance. Alltel cut my phone off and contacted ME PERSONALLY.. They caught the fraud and never charged me and gave me an new digital phone FREE that could not be cloned. So think before you rant. There are two sides to every story. DO you really think a company makes its living by INTENTIONALLY upsetting their customers??? Perhaps you would want to pay a $500 deposit instead next time?
