American Computer Supplies fraudulent telephone soliciting, fraudulent product claims, inflated prices, post-quote inflated shipping on computer ribbons misrepresentation of company Los Angeles California
American Computer Supplies first called our company in September 2006 and offered to provide Lexmark 2400 compatible ribbons at $1.00 more than what we had been paying at the local office supply store, and assured that these ribbons would far outlast the ribbons we had been using. After receiving and paying for the first shipment, we were not impressed with the performance of the ribbons and informed the company that we would not order from them again.
Another call was received in January 2007 with the same advertising pitch, and the salesperson assured us this was not the same company we had dealt with previously. The ribbons they offered were supposed to cost $23.75 each, or $118.75 per shipment of 5. We received a bill for $237.50, plus $42.35 shipping/handling. When the comapny was called, they explained that there would be two shipments of 5 ribbons and that this bill was for the total, less a separate shipping/handling fee. Reluctantly, we agreed to this and paid the bill.
Now we have received an additional bill for $237.50 plus $42.35 shipping, and although we have offered to return the remaining 9 ribbons, we were told that we could not do so without authorization, which they will not give beyond 5 days after receipt of the shipment. This means that they have inflated the ribbon price to $47.50 each, and will not take them back. We were also told we have a verbal contract with this company which we cannot break. We intend to sent no further payments.
