I was shown boxes of steak and a combo one which had seafood and steak by a vendor in a respectable truck in Coal City, Indiana.  The vendor said he worked for the distributor near Kentucky Avenue in Indy and had reapeat customers, etc.  He showed a box of seafood and steaks he was selling to one of my husband's clients and offered one to my husband, saying they would both get a discount, great quality, etc.  What is advertised as a $389 box on the internet is 10 pounds of various steak, vacuum packed, one batch marinated, and 4 pounds of some disgusting stuff called chopped steak with a label stating 380 calories total and 310 from fat---even sausage and hot dogs are not that high in fat, and are certainly not called "homestyle pure chopped beef steak".    The fat content is broken down to indicate one steak is 52% of a persons recommended daily fat consumption with 64% or 13 grams from saturated fat and 2 gras of trans fat.  Since trans fats are created artificially, often by injecting hydrogen into vegetable oil and are considered the worst type of fat (should be banned) how can the package be labeled "homestyle pure chopped beef".  This was not the box of seafood and steak described to me and my wife totally flipped out when I saw that almost 30 per cent of the box, 4 pounds out of under 14, was worse than sausage - I have not opened the sealed packs and plan to contact the parent company tomorrow.  The actual strip steaks, filet, etc. state packed for American Gold Label, Miami, FL 33014 on the box, but the chopped steak, in a box like the real steak, states packed for MEAT Plus.  It is listed on the box with the other items, so American Gold Label is responsible for what went in the combo pack.   The salesman sold the junk box for the price of a premium and the meat is not steak, let alone "pure chopped steak" - it looks like pink fat and there are lumps of hard gristle you can feel and see through the plastic.  I plan to call the American Gold Lable Company tomorrow and report this disgusting scenario to them.  The person distributing for them in Indiana would give the company a bad name, even if the real steak included in the pack was ok!
