A couple of months ago, I received a little yellow flyer in the mail stating that I was pre-approved for a credit limit of $4,500.00-7,000.00.

I called the number given to me and I gave the lady who answered, the confirmation number, which was on my card. She proceeded to tell me that this is to re-establish my credit and I would have to pay $199.00 to get this credit card, which would be either a Visa or MasterCard.

So, I agreed to let them debit my checking account in the amount of $199.00 in the 2nd week of January 2002. I was patiently waiting for my credit card and NEVER received it.

Finally, about a week later, I received in the mail an American Gold Elite Credit Card to purchase products from their store catalog!

I called and explained that I NEVER received the credit card promised to me, and she said that she can send me an application to receive this credit card, but I would have to pay an additional $43.00!

Needless to say, I refused the lousy offer. I wrote their company 3 times, and never heard a response back on the problem that I have experienced.

I have copies off ALL the FedEx bills and copies of the signatures, for whom signed for my packages, so therefore, they can't say they never received my letters.

I don't know what else I could do, but they took my hard earned money!

VERY RUDE & NOT HELPFUL TO THEIR UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS

08/22/2002- I called 888-287-8446 and spoke to a Customer Representative by the name of Jennifer. She was very rude and nowhere near helpful. I explained what happened, etc. I mentioned that they should make their little yellow flyers a little more understandable. She said they can't fit everything on a little card. SO I rudly said they only fit what they want us to know. I told her if I knew that I was paying $199.00 for a credit card for an overpriced catalog, I would have NEVER agreed to let them debit my acount. Jennifer said that when you call the number, they mention all of that. Which, of course is a lie, because I wouldn't be in this situation if that were true! She was very rude and asked me for my social security number, which I refused to give to her. I told her I was going to contact my lawyer. Right now I have a lady from WABC Call For Action helping me out on this case. Here is her information is anyone wants to contact her regarding ANYTHING. She doesn't handle just credit card. 08/22/2002- FYI the correct number to American Gold in Old Tappan, NJ is 888-287-8446. Please be advised that when they answer, they don't say the name of the company (or at least when I called they didn't) and they ask you to hold. You will be on hold for awhile, though.
