I am a current student at APU/AMU. If you read the student handbook, the class syllabus and all the notifications sent out prior to the beginning of each class, you would have known that once you login to the class by submitting a post in the first week, you are considered to be participating. The way to be automatically dropped is NOT to log in. Your statement "I logged into the class and Introduced myself and did not do anything else in the class which means they were supposed drop me from the class for lack of class perticipation" is misleading to any unknowledgeable person reading this report and the part that says they were supposed to drop you for lack of participation is false. The student handbook has the following information that very clearly invalidates your complaint:
The first week of classes runs from the Monday the course opens until 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time) on the first Sunday of that week.
You are required to log into each of your courses during Week One and to submit a class discussion board posting of at least 250 words in the first Introductory Forum in week One.
Students who do not submit this assignment during the first week of class may be automatically dropped from any courses in which this assignment has not been completed.
Additionally, your specific situation and how to deal with it is covered:
Your complaint contains false information and suggests you just want your money back, even though you made a mistake. I, personally, think the university could score a good PR victory if they just refunded your money (if your claims to be homeless and in a shelter are true), however, the policies are so clearly stated and reiterated so frequently, I find it hard to sympathize with your situation. If I were you, I'd try working WITH the staff rather than against them. Like you, I have been attending classes at APU/AMU for some time and have had a couple of glitches along the way but I found the staff (for the most part) to be helpful. I am very pleased with the education I'm receiving and look forward to many more years of affiliation with APU.
