America's 1st Choice Home Warranty advertise peace of mind and financial security in home repair and replacement costs.  Their Service Agreement states:  Their sole responsibility will be to arrange for a qualified service contractor to repair or replace, at DCI's expense (up to the limits set forth). But when I placed a claim, the service agreement became this: Find a technician; Submit copy of technician's estimate stating cause of failure. Brand name. Model #. Serial #. Approximate age of unit. Part # of any parts needed. Copy of final bill with all pricing listed.  This new agreement which I learned about upon putting in a claim is contrary to the Agreement that I purchased. I therefore cancelled the contract with them, because under this new agreement, it was easier to just have household repairs done by Sears or another appliance company and pay them outright.

I have been told by America’s 1st Choice that I am due a prorated refund. But America's 1st Choice, the selling company, and their Claims Administrator DCI no longer work together and the companies are in dispute. Each claim that the other is responsible for issuing the refund. I put in a complaint with the BBB. But AFC told them that DCI is no longer their administrator, and they have nothing to do with the case.

My problem with this is that AFC continues to stay in business.  How many other unsuspecting people will AFC sell warranties to just to have their cases end up like this?   Generally speaking, a company, in this case, (AFC the selling company), should be legally bound by a contract. In writing this report, my purpose is to convey to readers my experience with America’s First Choice.

Addendum to Rebuttal

Please accept this addendum to the rebuttal letter re: AFC dated November 20, 2015. In reading through other complaint letters on Ripoff Report, one letter of great interest came to view. This writer had experienced the same kinds of issues as I’d experienced.

The purpose of this writing is to point out a troubling discrepancy detailed in the AFC contracts.  This person had purchased a 3- year policy from AFC up front just as I had. He was told that he had to call DCI (the subcontractor) when placing a claim just as I’d been told. He purchased his home warranty in November 2012— November 2015. My policy ran from 2013 - 2016.

But here’s the thing.  After a little over a year, this complainant was told that DCI (the subcontractor had gone out of business and that his contract was cancelled.) I purchased my contract in 2013 and DCI, the company that had allegedly gone out of business, was also named as my subcontractor. In my case they allegedly went out of business in 2014.

I don’t know why I felt a need to add this except as a means to show a little more insight into the situation. However, I do recommend that everybody do his/her homework eg. research a company well before committing to it. And reading Ripoff Reports would be a good idea as well. I wish I'd done so.

This letter is in response to America's 1st Choice Home Warranty's rebuttal requesting that my complaint dated November 6, 2014 be removed.  I disagree and, I believe a grave injustice would be done to the general public if this were done.  I further believe that this would be an incentive for AFC Home Warranty to continue their misrepresentation and deceptive sales pitches.

I emphasize, in particular, that in America's 1st Choice Agreement, AFC advertised peace of mind and financial security in home repair and replacement costs.  I wish to stress that, the company's failure to live up to its promises, and their retention of my total pro-rated refund were the reasons the above complaint was filed.

I and my husband are senior citizens.  I would not deliberately and maliciously ruin a company's image. Likewise, why would a company cause havoc, distress and misery to others? To ensure fundamental principle of ethics in business practices and do away with unfair business practices that encompass fraud, misreprentation or other unconscionable acts we must hold one another accountable.

I conclude that if I can stop fraudulent companies, starting with this one, then I am compelled to do.

This company and its CEO John Craddock are a super rip off organization. Over the past 3 years I have paid them close to $1500.00 in premiums. Have attempted 2 claims. and on both occassions I was given a major runaround and ultimately recieved no reimbursements for my repairs. I am currently disputing charges to them with my credit card company. Dont purchase their warranty..
