United States of America#2Consumer Suggestion

With a lot of the "ripoffs" reported here, there is quite a bit of evidence that the consumer is about as much to blame as the business, but this one is definitely an exception.
I am not a lawyer, but I believe you would have had grounds for a lawsuit here. The company is providing you with an essential service -- one that you cannot live normally without, since living normally is defined as being able to cook and bathe in your own home. Yet, they unilaterally visit your home, trespassing on your property, and shut off your access to a product you've paid for.
Far from paying them $109 to come back and fix this, they should have been paying YOU at least $100 - $200 per day (the cost of a hotel room) in damages for the inability to live normally in your own home, and I believe a court would have awarded you that -- at least.
I know this has been several months ago, so it is probably too late for you to bother with it, but if anyone else in a similar situation reads this, I'd suggest contacting an attorney.

If what you're saying is true, they're basically attempting to axe hundreds of their loyal customers. I strongly recommend you switch to a different gas company as a statement about this.
