Just recently I left my job as an Account Executive for Ameriquest Mortgage. Looking to stay in the Mortgage industry, I am embarrassed having to put Ameriquest down as the first mortgage I have worked for in my short professional career. I was never the best account executive in the office, I never sold the most loans, never had the highest of volume in my loans, and never had the most revenue. It was a great experience for me for someone who was trying to break in to the industry. I know now what kind of a company that I want to work for, mortgage or not, I am positive it will be nothing like working at Ameriquest. Towards the end of my short stint at the branch, I began to feel sick about myself and my profession. I fell into the trap of believing that I could put myself into a better financial situation (a company line for Ameriquest). So I tried it out with the notion of helping myself and my customers have a more comfortable idea of where they are in life. After a few closings under my belt and more following, I brought a few loans scenarios without giving away any sensitive information from my borrowers to a few friends of mine in the industry with other companies. After hearing what they could have gotten them, you cant imagine what disgust I felt about myself. I told myself that I couldn't change the loans that I have already done, but I would do whatever I could to prevent it from happening to anyone else, so I would purposely kill the file, so it would not go into the wrong hands, unless there was a extremely obvious benefit from the loan. I will admitt I was naive, unaware and untrained in this profession (which is exactly what Ameriquest wants). I have the worst feeling in my soul with not how I treated my borrowers, but the product that they trusted me with, which they believed was the best product for them. I never cheated, lied, forged, or hid anything for my clients(and don't think that it doesnt go on, it most certainly does on a daily basis). I thought that would be enough, but it isn't. I think everyday, "What if I never would have contacted them?" They would have a better loan than they do now from someone else. To all the families that trusted me with the single most important decision for their family. Their are no words or actions that can make up for the loan I gave you. Even the service I provided, which made you feel comfortable, will never make up for it. You are still regretably stuck with loan until you refinance it again. If you have a loan from Ameriquest, do whatever is in your best interest to get rid of it. Just remeber that there are fees everytime you refinance with any company, so weigh that before you sign again. No need to pay more in fees if you don't have to. Also for those who are contacted by Ameriquest, during their "POWER HOURS" (tell the Account Executives you know they are better people that this, and what they are doing is wrong. Ask them the question I asked myself every day that I was there. "Money aside, do you feel good about what you are doing?" Don't hate them, just encourage them to leave so they can regain their integrity. By yelling at them and disliking them, it will only further enrage them to screw over more people. You the people will be able to take down this company.....one employee at a time! Have a great Easter, and for those being forced to work on Easter, my deepest apologies......you should be with your families.
