Amity Toyota Amityville New York selling flood damage autos, consumer ripoff fraud
In March of 2000, we leased a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder from the used lot at Amity Toyota Dealership. Ever since than we've had one problem after another and we were told that there was nothing wrong with the car when we leased it.
A few months after we got it we needed to put new struts, shocks and sway bars on it which came to $700. A few months later we had to put 4 new tires, which came to $350, on it before the winter time beacuse the tires didn't even pass insepection at that time.
Meanwhile, this is only 6 months after we leased the car. Now in July 2001, we found out that it needed front brakes, rotars and pads. When we took it in to get an estimate the total added up to over $500. Because the underneath of the entire truck is rusted out from the prior lease, there was problem after problem. We have been told by a few different places that the truck has flood damage and was never reported. Therefore, we got the brakes done what needed to be done. But now there is also another problem that they found while doing the brakes. The truck needs an entire new exhaust system that is going to be another $500. And this problem is bringing carbon dioxide into the truck so we have to drive with the windows cracked until we get it fixed.
Because the carriage of the truck is so rusted out, we were told that there will be more problems and we still have 2 and a half years left on the lease.
