I placed a web order with armynavydeals.com on Tuesday, the 16th of December, at 1 p.m. EST. I ordered two identical items, both listed as "In Stock".

When I was completing the order, I found a few different UPS shipping options. One UPS ground option was free, but there was italicized, red text informing the consumer that express shipping was required to get the package by December 24th. "Express" was the third option being above "Standard", which was a typically reasonable shipping charge. Express shipping was priced at $16, and my order included all of two sweaters. Being a Christmas gift - and I was doing my Mom's shopping, no less - I opted for the express.

Let me add, for reference, that I placed an order with another company Monday, the day before, at about 4 p.m. EST, with standard UPS ground shipping, and I received that package Friday a.m., December 19th.

As it turns out, I discovered today, December 22nd, that my package from armynavydeals.com, which was to be shipped "Express" to ensure delivery before Christmas, was shipped out FIFTY-FOUR hours after I placed my order. *** That means from the time I placed my order, their employees went home, came back the next day, went home again, came back the next day, and managed to get my package in UPS hands just before going home again. UPS tracking currently reports it is "Out for delivery". So I ought to get it today, one business day after I received my package from the other company, with whom I placed an order less than one business day prior with standard UPS ground.

The point is "Express" was not needed. This company chooses to make a profit by telling their customers that they have to pay for express shipping in order receive holiday shipments By December 24th. I'm not saying they didn't actually use express shipping. I'll find out when I got home today, I suppose. I'm saying they gouge shipping costs and top that with dragging their feet in the shipping process.

Was I willing to pay it? Yes. Will I get my package in time? Yes. Does it offend me when someone tries to make more money off of me then they ought to, ethically speaking? Yes.

Will I ever buy from them again? No.

Sorry I didn't notice your posting before today - been very busy helping valuable customers such as yourself. Please let me explain to you how our EXPRESS shipping options work: We offer FREE, STANDARD, EXPRESS shipping types - today we have the following orders in the cue: EXPRESS - 41 STANDARD - 104 FREE - 381 Those are individual orders - why we call it SHIPPING and HANDLEING is because we pay an expeditor to to PUSH through your order (EXPRESS) before other orders that have been placed before your's. So Yes someone can be shipped something UPS GROUND both by using FREE or EXPRESS - what our extra charge pays for - is a special person to print out your order - locate it - pick it - inspect it - pack it - and ship it before other orders that have chosen an lesser (cheaper) shipping method. 50% of the costs go towards LABOR and even DROP shipment fees that we may pay some of our vendors to get your order to you as quick as possible. WE are a FREE SHIPPING company and at the end of the year - we lose much more on shipping than we make - but that is ok - because we are building a group of very cool customers and it is worth the lose today to gain for tomorrow. Please use coupon 1000 to receive an extra 10% off your next order - SORRY you weren't 100% happy and it took so long for this comment. Be well - HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

It should be apparent to the reader that the owner of this company has seen this report. He has offered a rebuttal to a different report here regarding ArmyNavyDeals; not so much to the report itself, but to an ex-employee's comment on a report. I thought the acerbic tone was a nice touch, what with all the claims of being a "mom and pop" company. Anyway, you'll notice the rebuttal is dated later than my original report, and that he didn't take a second to respond to me. So, a business owner visited the ripoffreport and took the time to read only a single comment in response to one of four reports against his company? You'd have a tough time selling me on that.

ArmyNavyDeals.com - "Express" shipping doesn't seem to have been express at all.

Judging by the standard UPS label and the number of stops this package made according to UPS tracking, I'm not convinced ArmyNavyDeals spent any more money to ship this than they would have if I had opted for standard shipping; though they charged me about twice as much. What a shame. I spoke with Sergio last week, and he knows who's writing this report. If he sends me something proving they didn't just pocket my extra shipping money, I'll be glad to re-post. As far as my original quarrel: It is what it is. They sat on my shipment for over two days after charging me express shipping. Nice sweater, though.
