I was a patient at Aspen Dental in Hyannis, MA. Briefly, I was examined, x-rayed and a treatment plan was rendered. When the procedure was being performed, it was suddenly announced. "that's a root canal". The examining dentist said that a root canal was unnecessary but the treating dentist did the procedure anyway adding $850 to my bill.
About 2 months later, I developed a toothache. I made an appointment and was x-rayed again. The head dentist, after a momentary examination, said that she could save the tooth with a root canal and a crown. No explanation. Just a few thousand dollars. I would have to wait to be treated for 10 days because a different dentist needed to do the root canal. Dr. Taylor (the head dentist) stated the visit was free. Subsequently, I received an invoice for the services.
BAIT AND SWITCH. Aspen Dental lures you in with a free exam and xrays and continually seeks to add expensive procedures.
I paid the invoice, e-mailed Aspen to obtain my records. No communication, no explanation.
