Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My cousin enrolled in a Paralegal training program and is learning how to assist in a law office in one of the very best paralegal programs I have seen anywhere.

But her great training is not going to do her any good if she can't get a job in the legal field to put her training to use and I haven't graduated law school so I can't hire her.

If you have tried to use the Austin American-Statesman classified ads, they have become some sort of incomprehensible jumble of junk, mostly spam ads and Nigerian scam and con ads, and it is extremely difficult to decipher any real job opportunities that might be there.

Notice of availability postings on the Texas Bar Association website gets no response.

So she has tried Craigs List Austin and she responds to the blind ads where you send your response to some box that craigslist has assigned the SUPPOSED employer.

I say SUPPOSED employer because she submitted exactly 110 letters of interest and only got three replies and TWO of those were Auto-Mail responses and ONE was some Nigerian SCAMSTER.

These "job postings" sound great but you really can't tell to whom you are responding so I have cautioned her against sending her actual resume until she knows for sure whether or not a legitimate law office is going to get it. With all of the identity theft and other assorted tomfoolery these days, you can never be too careful.

She will NOT e-mail her resume. She wants to hand carry it to a job interview.

Which makes me wonder about the intelligence and gullibility of these attorneys. Apparently most of them havent' a clue that the Internet is NOT 100 percent secure and there are hacker crooks worldwide who can get into ANYTHING they want to read badly enough.

Which makes me wonder what sort of employers they would be...

But that is what she wants to do...

IT UPSETS ME THAT SUCH AN INTELLIGENT,VERSATILE,HARD-WORKING LADY IS NOT GETTING ANY JOB INTERVIEWS IN HER CHOSEN FIELD BECAUSE THE SCAM AND IDENTITY THEFT SITUATION HAS GOTTEN SO OUT OF HAND THAT YOU CAN NO LONGER E-MAIL A RESUME TO SOMEONE AND KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEY ARE WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE.

It's like the $200 which was illicitly siphoned out of my paypal account with NO accountability or like rolling the dice whenever you order anything from e-Bay. ( No thanks, I learned MY lesson with the $200 theft from my ENTIRE paypal account.)

In fact, the situation has become so bad that craigslist.org in Austin is going to have to start CHARGING JOB POSTERS $25.00 in an effort to keep out the scamster, spammers, rip-off artists, etc.

THAT is how BAD it is!

Austin employers tend to be rude anyway but I expected better from my future law colleagues. Some modium of professionalism anyway ---UNLESS they are NOT REALLY LAW OFFICES but a bunch of phishers, pharmers and schemers, spammers and scammers instead...

AND HOW ARE WE TO PROVE OTHERWISE?

People need to know NOT to expect any reply at all and to NO send ANYTHING with sensitive information on it ESPECIALLY A RESUME to ANYONE in this section of Craig's List until they implement SOME sort of policy to discourage the RIPOFF ARTISTS that stalk the unwary users on the Austin craigslist under Legal/Paralegal employment section.
