Award Notification Commision James Mallory Phishing expedition with incorrect condo # and moderately correct name to produce required fee of !2.99 to receive prize Kansas City, Kansas
My well-meaning mail deliverer saw the prize notification and put it in my box, even though the condo unit was not right and the name was approximate. I opened it, seeing that I simply needed to claim a $2,000,000.00 prize and designate if I wanted it in a lump sum or over thirty years.
The catch was that I needed to submit $12.99 in cash or check -- not credit card -- as soon as possible. I read the fine print attachment, thinking that I had not entered any contest. Also, because it was not my full name or correct condo number, I suspected Phishiing, not by computer but mail. Within the fine print , I found the answer: The prize would not actually be awarded until two years into the future and I would be required to be subjected to sales presentations and actual purchases from an affiliate. No website was provided for internet connection. Obviously, I opted out, but kept the mailing as evidence.
Checking Ripoff Reports, I found one mirroring my experience. Thank you Ripoff Reports! I might not have been gullible enough to fall for for this scheme of making money stringing people along, but perhaps my report will help some other targetted person.
