AwardSpace is a German webhosting company that also does business in the United States. It attracts users by offering them free webhosting which you can upgrade to a paid plan if you want additional features. What you are not told is that if you make the mistake of signing up for a paid account there is no going back - it is impossible to downgrade. If you do not renew your paid account, instead of downgrading as would happen with every other webhost with AwardSpace you lose access to all files in your account immediately and it is impossible to download those files unless you renew for an entire year. To sweeten the deal the company also prohibits chargebacks in their terms of service (which likely violates Visa and Mastercard terms and conditions) and threaten you with lawsuits if you file one.
My suggestion is to not use AwardSpace and if you did already start using it do not sign up for a paid account, it will be impossible for you ever downgrade and it will be impossible for you to transfer your files to another host after your paid account expires.And if you pay to renew and then file a dispute you will be threatened with lawsuits.
