My mother paid for years on 2 policys from Bankers Life .One was for her long term care and one for her short term care. She was advised by doctors to serioulsy think about leaving her home because of her health. She had her long term care policy that was suppose to pay for her in the event she was no longer able to. We moved her here from Az into a assisted living home. The policy said she had to pay for the first 30 days and that they would pay after that. That has not happened and won't they denied her again even though she died they don't care . They are totally in humane and take the elderly's money for years and have no intention of paying. I have appealed and appealed to the point of having a heart attack my self dealing with this company. Please if anyone reads this and your relatives have these policys stop paying now before it is to late for them. We now owe over 17000.00 dollars to the assisted living home .We have 1 income and 1 social security income dont know  how we are going to pay this. Bankers Life has ruined our life and killed my Mother. They are lower than low no compassion whatsoever.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Banker's is a house full of cards.  There are plenty of legit LTC companies out there, such as John Hancock etc, but Banker's is not one of them.  The whole point of combining a short-term with a long term policy is to minimize the waiting period and out-of pocket.  One of those policies should have paid up at least.  I wasn't with them long, but from my experience, they do seem to prey on the elderly and their dependents.  It's sick really, and gives all the other good companies and insurance agents out there that genuinely try to help people a bad name.

I hope you get some retribution from this.  Take it to the state insurance commissioner if you need to.
