Barrister hired and dispatched me for a warranty issue 63 miles from my home. I accepted and set out to do the work, only to find that someone had already been sent to do the same contract. Barrister failed to notify me, and admitted that the fault was theirs.  I was promised that a manager would call me and discuss compensation, but no call ever came.  Countless calls from me to them remain unanswered and one "manager" even called me rude and uncooperative.  I've filed a BBB complaint against them as well, and considering legal action for breach of contract.  Barrister lists many monetary penalties imposed on contractors for not showing up for contract work without advanced notice, yet have noting to protect who they contract with for their errors.

Barrister,

While I disagree with most the payment issues I've seen. I've had one or two myself that I was able to get resolved. However, I would say that of all the third party providers I've dealt with Barrister is the most unprofessional. I've searched for similar reported problems on the internet with other companies I deal with and can't find any as close to the amount found from Barrister. Most I can't even find one. I appreciate the fact that you try to address these individual problems people report but I would think changes need to be made internally.

I run a few websites and understand most complaints or unhappy people will not take the time to write anything. So the fact that you have this many complaining tells me that their are thousands more that just don't say anything.

Maybe Barrister often states they deal with independent contractors to avoid professional businesses. I'm not independent. I work for a professional company that does business with other professional companies and we have expectations from those companies like they have with ours. We often find ourselves trying our best to follow all your rules and guidelines but often find Barrister making it difficult to complete the simplist of task in a timely manner. Call me old school but when I want to accomplish something I get on the phone and contact the people I need to speak with a get it taken care of.

Often Barrister calls me to perform work and is very nice and often desperate. I hesitate, then agree to do the call because I love what I do and helping people out. Often times after I complete a call or need to speak with a technician I end up spending the next 30 to 60 minutes on the phone waiting to talk with some one for 5 to 10 minutes. I don't know what you know about service but this is very unprofessional while onsite. Never in 15 years have a dealt with a company that makes tech's wait that long to talk to somebody. Most companies answer the phone right away or within 5 minutes. Never more than 10. I would advice Barrister to quit defending themselves all the time and find easier simpler ways to handle their procedures. Rather than spend time writing on forums. Randomly call technicians and ask them how Barrister can make their jobs and experience with Barrister more enjoyable. Barrister calls customers and ask how the tech performed. Maybe Barrister should call us tech's and ask how Barrister is performing.

Barrister can do great things. They have in the past. But these forums aren't going away and the more you get offended and try to defend yourself the less you help your cause. The biggest thing I can say to Barrister and yourself is to get more phone help. Answer the phone when tech's call and promptly handle the situation and most your problems will go away. Continue to blow us off and treat us like dirt and the more you will get bad publicity on the internet. It's your choice. HP and other vendors can't ignore this forever. Eventually they will not want to be associated with a company with such or poor reputation.

I hardly believe that you were troubled by us and we were in error and did not apologize. That is not the way Barrister runs their business, nor do we treat out techs with disrespect. Apparently you are still ill about the situation, so if indeed an “I’m sorry” was not given and it seems, that is very upsetting to you, so please accept my apology on behalf of all at Barrister. We would never want you to feel disrespected or mistreated.

You refer to the $45.00 as though you were expecting more, all payments and terms are agreed upon by you before you take any job with Barrister.

Barrister did not “sweep you under the carpet” we admitted our fault, paid you by the terms you agreed to, which in turn means we held up to our part of the agreement.

With that being said, you insist on slandering Barrister, so in deed you are attacking us.

Again, I am sorry for the experience you had with us, but it is very unfair for you to accuse us, and put the idea out there that we have done this to many techs. You are one tech that had one bad experience with us, that hardly makes for Barrister to be a horrible company to work for.

NOT satisfied, just glad to be free of them

Barrister reports that I was "satisfied" with the solution and they "took care of me."   This is a total crock.  They sent me a $45 check to cover what they say is a trip reimbursement.  That amount would only take care of one way of the miles I had to drive, and they have offered NO apology or anything else regarding this case.  Only because of a total lack of communication from them that I reported the case to the BBB, and I do wish to warn others about staying away from this company and NOT doing business with them. This is not an attack as they claim, but cold hard fact.  They were in error, admitted the error, and then swept me under the carpet until I took action myself.  Sure they claim the BBB report was removed to keep them from having bad marks against them, but they decided to take some action and send me a $45 check.  The only reason I accepted it is to just end the problem and be done with Barrister.  I'm sure they've done this to many other techs. To make this even more humerous, they sent me a work order for a job in Calgary which is more than 2300 miles from my home.  The fee they offered; $45.  That is now framed and on my wall of total supidity.  Avoid Barrister at all costs.

Although Barrister did have confusion regarding this job, there is no reason for this technician to be on the attack with us.

We made right on this issue, by paying the tech a trip charge for his inconvenience of having to go to the job site.

As far as the report to the BBB that has been removed, due to the technician has agreed that we took care of him regarding this job and he was satisfied by our payment to him.
