I have worked for Barrister off and on the past 6 months. I have been unemployed for over a year from full time work. I am happy Barrister gave me a chance when everyone else slammed the door in my face. I completed dozens of calls for Barrister. Barrister may have a long turnaround time to get paid but I have eventually got paid for every call. I developed a good relationship with quite a few people over at Barrister. I will admit they aren't perfect, there are hiccups, I never had any problems with not being paid. If you do business to business freelance work, its the norm to have a payment turnaround time of 4 to 6 weeks. I've done everything from computer work, voice over work, copywrite work, website design.. All that stuff takes 4 to 6 weeks to get paid.  Invoice is received from one department, sent to another for approval , processed for payment in another, and then 4 or 5 business days shipping.

I am a current technician that does contract work for Barrister.  I will agree that their payment method is slow, but I have never been denied pay by te company.  If you follow their clear guidelines for payment, they will pay.  It may take longer than other companies like Barrister, but they do come through.  I just had a conference call with the CEO of Barrister this morning and he was very receptive to hear issues from a technicians stand point.  They are very interested in re-inventing the way they process payments to help expedite them.  I was very encouraged by my conversation with Mr. Bowers and I honestly feel they have their technicians best interests in mind.  If you have not recieved any money from work performed for Barrister, there must be a good reason for it, check your paper trail and procedures.

I understand your complaint.  I have worked as an independent contractor for four years now.  While I have had some payment issues, I have never not been paid for my work.

I have worked with Angel in the accounting department.

I think what helped with me is that I kept a record of all of my work orders and papers.  Sometimes they did not receive a fax or two, but because I wanted to get paid, I followed up.

I just wanted to share my experience.

Paying technicians promptly and correctly is a priority for our company. Payments are generally prepared approximately 21 days following the receipt of all documentation and information from technician closing the call. Technicians must call from site to close calls, return parts correctly and fax or scan the signed receipt for service. Once those simple steps are followed, payment is made to technicians. Barrister maintains an email address, [email protected], which is monitored and answered daily. If a tech has a problem with payment, of any kind, he should email this address stating the work order number in question and a brief description of his issue. He will receive an answer within 5 business days.
