Bender Ball Credit Card Scam Van Nuys California
Do not order from Bender Ball! I never order anything that I've seen on TV, but did this once, and I really regret it! I received the ball and was charged the initial $22 then about 2 months later, I noticed a charge for $34 on my credit card from Bender Ball. When I called my credit card company, they gave me the phone number to contact them about the charge. When I called, a person whose accent was almost incomprehensible told me that I should have received a welcome letter that indicated that I was now automatically enrolled in a bi-monthly program to receive merchandise that I did not order. He told me that if I didn't want the merchandise, I was supposed to call before a certain date to tell them not to send me merchandise that I did not order. What?? First of all, there was no 'welcome letter' and nothing indicating that by placing one initial order that I would be subject to future unauthorized charges to my credit card.
When I told him that I didn't want the merchandise, he informed me that it had not shipped yet, but that they couldn't stop it. Once I received the package, I could return it at my own expense and they would eventually refund me $19 of the $34 charge since I am responsible for the shipping charges. I asked to be removed from the list (and he couldn't provide me with a reference number to my call so that I would have proof that I was removed from future shipments) and asked for a supervisor to discuss the shipment not yet sent. After holding for 20 minutes, he came back and told me that a supervisor would have to call me back, and of course, they never did. I have the charge in dispute with my credit card company, but fear that this is not the last of the unauthorized charges to my credit card.
Do not fall prey to this scam. This company is horrible and should be put out of business. Once you get sucked in, you are in their system and victim to their credit card fraud. Spread the word. These people need to be stopped!
