I was a client of Binder and Binder from 2004-2006. They claim to have the best record in the nation for winning Social Security Disability cases. Their commercials are very warm and fuzzy, and lead one to believe that they are concerned about disabled individuals.

When my case began to fall apart, for reasons I will detail below, they dropped me as a client. Their failure to win my case never became a part of their statistics. During the period of time that B&B was working on my behalf, my eligibility for disability ran out. I was not able to find a decent attorney and begin the process again.

My case was based out of Riverside County, CA. Every few months, I was informed that I had a new case representative. In a period of two years, my case was transferred at least a dozen times.

Prior to my hearing, I had a deadline with the government to have an MRI. The clinic that was treating me was stalling to the point where I almost missed the deadline. I had to physically carry the results to my local B&B office. After the hearing, I found out that B&B did not get the results to the government in time. Therefore, I had to file a request that the SSA extend the deadline. They declined -- they did not have the time or the interest in reading the report.

I also discovered that B&B had only sent in two of the three MRI reports. My case was largely based on the notion that my entire back is affected by spondylitis, and that having that large an area constantly in pain is overwhelming, especially when no one in the medical profession will do anything to alleviate it. It takes three MRI's to cover the entire neck and back section. The SSA was never even in possession of the lumbar MRI, which indicated severe spondylitis, degenerative disk disease, one herniated disk and one completely shattered disk.

To this day, the most help I can get from anyone in the medical profession is one Vicodin per day. It would take 3-4 Vicodin per day to keep me comfortable around the clock. But who wants to live that way? Since losing my job in 2004, along with my insurance, no one has ever referred me to a physical therapist, an arthritis specialist, an acupuncturist, an orthopedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon. I am told to exercise and use moist heat.

The fact that B&B was able to rob me of any chance of regaining my quality of life in such a cavalier manner still upsets me to this day. I cannot watch one of their touchy-feely commercials without bursting into tears.
