I
had already placed an order when I found this post online and because
of this message, I was so worried about our order for a new table. For
some reason, there was a day that lapsed from when I contacted Reginia
and when she was able to contact me back...which was very unlike her
throughout the process of our purchasing the table. As a result of this
message, when I didn't hear immediately back from Reginia, I sent her a
very direct and threatening email. I did not want to be one of the
couple of people who have posted complaints about Black Mountain
Furniture. Just as I hit the send button, my phone rang and it was
Reginia on the phone letting me know about the progress of my table.
Needless to say, I felt horrible and apologized to her immediately for over-reacting but
still let her know that I was very skeptical because of the complaints
that I had seen online. She assured me that the table would be done the
week that we talked and then delivered the following week. She sent me
pictures and when the pictures didn't exactly match the picture that I
had sent her of what I had wanted (which was simply the stain color),
she was immediately on the phone with me again to ensure that changes
would me made. She and her husband spent all day last Saturday(a day their shop is normally closed) making
sure that the color was exactly what we wanted, calling in between each
stage of the stain going on to make sure that I had received the
pictures and that I liked what I saw. She assured me that we would have the table that we wanted even if they had to start from scratch.
I ordered my table on September 10, 2009. It was finished on October
12th, 2009 and picked up for delivery from Reginia on October 14th,
2009. The delivery company had a break down with their truck which they
called to tell me about, and even with that, I just, in the last 2
hours, received my table on October 19th.
I have a handmade, solid wood table now that you can't even find in a
furniture store nowadays. I paid less money than I would have paid for
a piece from a furniture store and instead of settling for something, I
got a really beautiful piece that I love and that will last as long as
we want it to.
From ordering the piece to having it arrive at my door, it was maybe
delayed 2 weeks. Quite honestly, I factored a 2-4 week delay in when I
ordered it knowing that when someone is trying to secure your business
and make money, they may be a little more optimistic. I would have
figured in this time delay factor no matter who I was ordering from. If
anyone has ever built a house, you know that a builder will give you a
completion date to expect for move in and in reality, if you don't add
another 3-6 months to that, you have set yourself up for all kinds of
problems.
I found Black Mountain Furniture to be nothing short of amazing. They
are super nice people who are trying hard to meet the demands of their
customers. They are a small family company who work hard and the
workmanship is impeccable.. Your piece will be unique and well built.
Be specific with what you want, and if you change your
mind along the way, don't expect that they can give you a refund or
start rebuilding something. They have already spent their time and
their money on the supplies needed to build what your first thought
was. Know what you want, send a picture, agree on a price and stick
with that and you will get what you asked for in a well made, good
quality piece that you will never find anywhere else. However, if you change your mind after a piece is finished be reasonable in working out a solution.
Thank you to Black Mountain Furniture for my beautiful dining room table.
