Maybe it's the dealer that's the problem, trying to sell you what you don't need, or maybe they're trying to help you out. The parts in question are still available individually. Chances are very good that the original versions of the extra hoses they're trying to sell you will break when you try to remove them. 10 year old plastic in the engine bay is not very stable. So maybe they're trying to save you a second trip to the parts department Alternatively, maybe they assume you'll be spending time in a cold climate and are attempting to sell you the updated version of these parts. The updated version is a cold climate version and could save your engine. We install 20 - 30 of these updated kits every winter in Cleveland. We do not stock, nor offer, the old versions of these parts to our customers. We've also replaced thousands of dollars worth of gaskets that have failed due to excessive crank case pressure due to cold weather failures of the PCV system, and even had to replace an engine on an X5 this year that hydralocked due to this issue. The updated system includes insulated parts and a new oil dipstick tube. FYI Brett Anderson KMS
