Nicholas,
I see that it has been 7 years since you've submitted the initial report herre and you are most likely no longer monitoring this issue. I am a physician in the same field as the doctor you saw in Morgan City and wish to help you (and anyone else interested in this situation) understand the steps the doctor took with your fitness for driver certification.
While it is important to you to have a job as a commercial driver or otherwise, it is more important that you maintain adequate health while on our roads and highways. The purpose of the examination is not only to protect you as the driver, but to protect everyone else from from an adverse event from an uncontrolled medical condition while you drive. The doctor doesn't make the rules regarding the examination. That is the job of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. You know that you are a diabetic, your sugars are always high, yet you don't have a doctor to prescribe the appropriate medications to treat your condition. These medications could be $4 a month if controlled early enough. Failure to control your condition has a high probability of worsening. Instead of being upset at the doctor who won't let you drive a commercial vehicle, you probably should be thanking him (and FMCSA regulations) for encouraging you to get your condition controlled.
I do hope that you are now controlling your condition and that you were able to successfully obtain your DOT certification.

Let me refer you to THE doctors' DOT medical examination form, which includes instructions on how doctors are required to fill out the form at the bottom:

I finally received a call from the job I applied for at the St. Mary Parish Government. Tammy Doucet, Director of Personnel, told me that because I was "so sick" that they cannot hire me. She makes it sound like I'm a disabled person. Other than my A1C being high, I am a very healthy person with no physical limitations what so ever. Tammy Doucet based the decision to not hire me on the advise of Dr. Donald Thibodaux. I exapleind to Ms. Doucet that the A1C only shows an average blood sugar and that it does not and cannot determine how a diabetic will perfrom on a day-to-day basis. She didn't seem to understand what I was saying. If that were not enough, she seemed to scorn me for "not trying" to fix it. I clearly explained to her that an A1C is taken usually 3 months apart. It's not something I can start taking more medicine for and a week later, BAM!, my A1C level is normal. I explained this to her at least three times. Each time she attempted to scorn me for not going back to get another physical I reminded her of what an A1C was. She seemed to get frustrated, but it's not my problem she is incompetent and discriminates against diabetics. She also kept repeating "You have to understand our side." She eventually got to a point of using a tone of voice as if I was ignorant or as if she was getting agitated. What she needs to understand is that she made a discriminatory decision. I have filed for pre-legal assistance with the American Diabetes Association as discrimination based upon an A1C is unethical and possibly illegal. I have found a court case where an individual sued ExxonMobil for not hiring him because of a high A1C. He won the court case. You can read the court case at the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commision) website below: http://www.eeoc.gov/briefs/echaza.txt I will be filing a complaint against Dr. Donald Thibodaux with the Louisiana Board of Medical Examiners. I will be filing a separate RipOffReport againt the St. Mary Parish Government. I'm sure after all of this publicity and complaints I will never get a job with the local government, but I don't care. I don't want to work for a company or agency that treats peple as I have been treated. And if all the ruckus I raise causes them to step back and start treating people a little different, then my sacrifice was well worth it.
