In April of 2005, we were moving from Las Cruces to Denver Colorado. We obtained several quotes from various companies including Brinks, quotes ranged from $3,850.00 to $5,100.00 with Brinks being the lowest. The other companies actually came and measured our stuff and gave us guaranteed quotes of $4,200.00 to the $5,100.00. I got a quote of the internet and gave them a estimate and overestimated the amount of stuff and they gave me the same $3,850.00. Unfortunately for me, I had to leave Las Cruces early and start my job in Denver in May and they (Brinks didn't show up until a week later) and my wife with a two year old was left to deal with these theives. After they loaded the truck (size of a large uhaul) they told my wife the price would be double. My wife, totally stressed from the move, packing, and dealing with a two year old, didn't know what to do. She had all the utlities cut off that day and nowhere to go except up to Albuquerque with her family. As such, she didn't tell me the story until the day before they were supposed to show up that we owed an extra $3,850.00, that I had no ability of obtaining. I then called the offices and told them it was obvious that they either grossly underestimated my square footage or have vastly overcharged me. They claimed it was based on field measurements. I asked them to give me the field measurements of the truck they used, based on the measurements the actual volume was 1,300 cubic feet, max. At $3.00 a cubic foot that calculated $3,900.00 which was d**n close to the actual estimate. I told them this and then they stated that they took two loads, I asked my wife and she said this was a complete lie. Then they threatened to not deliver our stuff unless we paid, I told them I would not, then they started dropping $500.00 at a time to get us to pay. They finally got it down to $5,300.00 and I told them I would pay it provided they allowed me to measure. When they showed up, I was not allowed to measure until they unloaded. I took photos of the load which was haphazzardly thrown in the truck with two other loads. After they unloaded I measured the volume, even giving them an extra two feet, still the volume came out to 1,355 sqaure feet or about $4,100.00. Again they refused to refund me any money even though I am a licenced engineer and had three witnesses on the measurement. I am pursuing this in court but long story short. Never use these crooks, liars, and thieves. They are the scum trying to pray on women and other people who won't stand up for themselves.
