Budget Car Rental - Car Rental Scam - Budget Car Rental in Alhambra California
I rented a car from Budget Rent-A-Car in Alhambra CA on August 31st, 2007. I drove it off the parking lot at approximately 11:00 AM. At 11:06 AM (verified with my phone record), I discovered there is a minor but
noticeable crack on the driver side of the windshield. As soon as I havediscovered the damage, which was not reported to me at the time of the vehicle check out, I made a phone call back to Budget Rent-A-Car to
notify them of the damage. The employee that picked up the phone responded by telling me that they knew about this damage and told me not to worry about it.
I brought the car back to Budget Rent-A-Car on September 25, 2007. At the time of the check in, they claimed" that they have discovered a new damage (the crack on the windshield Ive already told them about) which was not on the car at the time of the check out. I told them that
I have already reported this damage but they refuse to admit that and saying no one knows about this damage until the time I took it back to their office. They wanted me to sign an accident report. But I refused
to do so because there was no accident when I had the car. They kept me in there and were insisting that I sign the accident report. I asked one of their employee, am I not allowed to leave unless I pay for the damage? and he replied. I was finally able to depart about 25 minutes later after I first arrived. Nevertheless, they proceed tocharge me $110 for the cracked windshield to my credit card without my
consent.
It is not just the money I am mad about. Rather, it is more on the way that I have been treated and lied to by this particular Budget Rent-A-Car. I have rented car many times in my life and this is the first time something like this has happened! I just cannot believe they can behave like this. I feel like I am the victim of a scam by this Budget Rent-A-Car office!
I honestly hope Budget-Rent-A-Car will look into this as I have already called once before. I also feel I have to leave something in record here about the dishonest business practice by this Budget Rent-A-Car office in Alhambra CA. At this point, I will never ever rent
any car from Budget again and you can be assured that I will tell every business associates I have about this incident. I reserve the right of any future legal action against Budget Rent-A-Car.

I was doing a little investigation myself and just within a few phone calls and I was also a bit surprised, I actually have some of my friends who knows about this Budget office. This particular Budget car rental office is actually quite "famous". Or should I say "infamous". They have had multiple disputes with other customers regarding telling customers one thing but doing something else. There may be a pattern of abuse by this Budget office. If you live in the area, I would strongly suggest that you avoid this Budget office for any of your car rental needs. If they see an opening and can get away with it, they will take full advantage of you.
