ANOTHER SCAM BY BUDGET VAN LINES and two other companies they "hired":

After my account in my open letter to all who have been scammed by Budget Van Lines

- I affirm that my accout is accurate:

After getting bids from several moving companies in the Seattle, Washington area, I contracted with and ONLY with Budget Van Lines.

Only after I had agreed to the move and had the binding estimate was I told that they were a "broker". I found out too late what a broker is and that Budget Van Lines charges $250 NO MATTER WHAT if you cancel for ANY reason.

I received the binding estimate - the ONLY paperwork I received before and during this move - only after the move and the movers had dumped my goods did I receive the inventory sheet that I had watched being made while my goods were loaded onto a truck.

From there it becomes a nightmare that must be stopped!

After a cancellation by the first company, another company called the night before arriving.

Two young men, no uniforms, from TempStore arrive on 14 February 2008. They had blankets that were dirty, but at least they had them. I had to provide plastic covering for my bedding or it would not have been covered at all - that was supposed to be part of the binding agreement - already one strike, but ok, everyone is human, right?

They pack my less-than-studio-apartment belongings and are gone in a couple of hours. They have tagged everything with inventory strips but it's not until the next day when I am getting all the paperwork I need for my flight on 15 February 2008.

I am going through a divorce, I am worried, nervous and have told Budget Van Lines that I can't take one more thing right now,

James comment to me in email on 11 January 2008:

"You have nothing to worry about. Occasionally we take on a new carrier and sometimes a move doesnt go exactly as planned, but the carriers we utilize on a regular basis are top-notch and as discussed, the ones we have in your area are the best available. We also set-up between 3000-4000 moves in a year, and the percentage of unsatisfied customers is extremely low for this industry. Everything will be fine. Please let me know if you need anything else."

Famous last words - yet I am hoping he thought he was telling the truth - God doesn't like liars... Yep, I believe in God and justice - and without forgiveness there isn't any mercy... and they wouldn't ask for forgiveness or help..... hello????

Apparently he wasn't talking about TempStore or Michael Meyer - the company that takes my goods and then holds it for exactly a month before sending it on it's merry way..... but NOT TempStore, yet another contractor who I am not told about until weeks later - actually up until a couple of days before they arrive and weeks after they are late.

18 January 2008 - After arriving to Virginia I call TempStore and Budget Van Lines to tell them that I have no paperwork that the young men TOOK the inventory sheet with them. It's the ONLY thing I signed, one single sheet and I don't have it.

No answers for weeks. I call again and again, send email after email to no avail.

What I am not being told is that my goods are still in Washington state in a warehouse and sit there until 14 February.

According to Amy (she states she is the manager)at Budget Van Lines my goods are on their way. Same with TempStore, my goods are on their way. Melissa and Amy - Budget Van Lines state in a conversations on several days towards the end of February 2008 that my goods are already late - Budget Van Lines contracted for no more than 21 business days until delivery was to be completed. - Please remember that phrase - BUSINESS DAYS - which is beaten into the ground. They were late on 11 February 2008!

No one will tell me where my shipment is or who has it.

It's now 22 Feb - I am called but the message is broken up - I hear delivery. I call Michael (TempStore) and Amy (Budget Van Lines). I have been promised that they would make an appointment for delivery.

I tell Michael and Amy that I will not be home that weekend. I tell them I WILL be home MONDAY 25 February 2008.

Monday comes - I receive an email stating that my goods have been summarily dropped off at a local storage unit "less than 3 miles" away. WHAT!

I call the movers - All State Van Lines that I finally get a number for and am told that they are GONE. They "attempted" delivery on SUNDAY. No appointment as promised and no email or other communication to the fact. THEN they LIE about being HERE on Monday!!! I catch them in the lie and tell them I was completely without a car on that day, several people in my apartment complex saw me here, I ALWAYS have my cell phone with me and charged AND my ONLY TRANSPORTATION, my NEW CAR was being PREPPED. I could not have left if I wanted to!

Backtracking, the person says, "..well in any case we're gone." VERBATIM!!!

I call Amy, Michael and then contact the DOT. The DOT will NOT help and will NOT enforce the laws! I write, I call, I plead... all to no avail.

They want not only the balance, which is $371 IN CASH OR MONEY ORDER - the balance of the $950 BUT ALSO $200 for the STORAGE UNIT!

Um, no, I explain in full to the person on the phone the SCAM that was perpetrated and he lowers it to "his cost" of $120... ok, now the total is $420.

They're late, they lied and they didn't deliver... yet no one will help, there are dozens of complaints Budget Van Lines and All State Van Lines - TempStore gets added just for good measure as they lied to me over and over again, day after day.

Michael at TempStore had my goods in a warehouse - FOR 30 DAYS. He protests and says that "there were I-90 closures" that prevented the shipment.

I called the Washington State Patrol (State Police) who keep very good records for road closures - out of the THIRTY DAYS the roads were closed in that space of time (14 Jan - 14 Feb) WHOLE 8 DAYS and GET THIS, the roads were CLOSED the DAY they picked up my shipment!!!

I have paid the $420 after being told that the balance was only $300 by Amy at Budget Van Lines. Michael at TempStore stated that I could have that price if I sign a release and absolve he and his company from any future actions - HA! You're KIDDING! I am naive about moving after being a military wife for over 33 years, but I am NOT dumb enough to waive what rights I have left in this case!

I sent the money order overnight. Michael states he received it late so by the time he emailed me the Mini Storage was closed. I am furious, hurt, and just plain mystified how anyone can sleep when they do this to people - but then again, we're talking greed here, aren't we?

OPEN LETTER TO ALL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SCAMMED BY THESE MOVERS

I am looking for other people who are willing to go through a class action lawsuit. Someone has to put these and all other creeps who do "business" in this manner OUT of business.

Only verified moves please - you must have a binding estimate - otherwise they had you from the time they didn't provide one.

The following is indicative of the reports and my own experince with Budget Van Lines:

http://www.budgetvanlines.com/

- physical address:

244 Fifth Ave #2501

New York, NY 10001

THEN the BBB has the audacity to tell me that they aren't going to do anything because -and it gets worse- the company is ACTUALLY out of CALIFORNIA?!?!

Please send a very short outline - date, name and contact info as well as a copy of the binding estimate (black out any info if you want... it's not relevant at this point)to:

K.

subject line: Budget Van Line Scam

Please pass this on. It's time to stop these people.
