Camco Capital Acquisitions & Mgmt. Co. probable ripoff scam Rockford, Illinois
I received a phone call from this company stating that I had an unpaid credit card bill dating back to 1986. They did not give me any account information, nor have I received anything from them in writing.
Most of the personal information they had on me was erroneous.. Unfortunately, since I was tired and not thinking clearly I did give the caller some information that they did not have, such as my current address. (The last address they had for me was over 10 years old).
The person refused to say where they got my unlisted phone number from; then referred me to a supervisor... Ultimately, I was told that the outstanding balance on this purported credit card would be reported to the credit agencies as of 2/25/04 (2 days from now) unless I gave them a check number with my account info to show good faith!
They also told me that they had been contacted by 4 companies with which I do business and that they had inquired about "my unpaid debt". I called all the comapnies named and spoke to people who stated absolutely waht I had been told was false and that it sounded like a scam - these companies included large instititons like American Express and Chase bank, to name just tw
To cover myself, after that I called a number of other businesses and asked then to make notations regarding this company in their records concerning me.
