Camera shop on 5th Ave in New York The shop is just a couple doors from 42 Photo on 5th Ave in New York. It charged me $800 for a Nikon D90 body and $60 for a HP 8GB memory. Note they didn't give me other kits, just a camera body. The New York, New York

I was heading to 42nd St. photo to buy a Nikon D90 body. The reason I need a Nikon D90 body is that my D300 is broken.
Due to a google map error it steered me off at the subway 49th St. station while the camera shop was at 378 5th Ave. I was somewhat tired and went in a camera shop on 5th Ave.
They charged me $800 for a Nikon D90 body and a menu. Note they pulled these two items out from the camera box and didn't give me the rest of the items.
When we tried camera, the memory card I have for the D300 doesn't fit for the D90. They tried to sell me a HP 8GB memory card with the asking price of $65. My gutting feeling told me it was toooooo expensive. They lowered it to $60. I had no time to fooling around and bought it. Later I found the memory card is $16,56 at Amazon.
Although the camera price was in a reasonable range. But without getting all the kits in the box, it is still a ripoff.
After walking out the shop I discovered the place I bough D90 body is only a couple doors from the 42nd St. Photo.

As you may know, 90% of the nation's commercial photography is done in New York City. You also have the fashion photography scene, the press and the artists. As a consequence of all this activity, NYC is absolutely teeming with camera stores. A little more specificity would be helpful to people who need to know which cameras to avoid.
From your post, it sounds as if this store uses the "Brooklyn camera shop" model of business. They advertise a camera for an attractive price but withhold things such as the charger, the software, the body cap, etc. Then they charge inflated prices for those items and will at times push low quality junk instead. $65 for an 8GB SD card sounds like something they would do.
Check with Nikon about your camera. These stores have been known to sell grey market camera bodies and if they sold one to you, Nikon USA will not honor any warranties. They can tell if your camera is a USA model by checking the serial number.
