I was contacted by Capital 1St and told that I had been excepted for a Master Card that had been applied for. As I had applied for one in the past I assumed this was legit. After telling me it would cost $29.95 for a one time processing fee, I gave them my debit card # to automaticaly withdraw the fee. Then I was told that I would be recieving some free trial offers of phone cards, airline miles etc, etc.

To my horror when the package arrived it was obvious that this was a ripoff. I called immediately and canceled. Recieved a cancelation # and returned the package. It is now July 7, 2002 and I have discovered that $59.95 was attempted to come out of the account. I was smart enough to not put any more money in the account in case something like this happened. Now I have $17.50 charged to my account (which is overdrawn now) along with the loss of the money that was originaly taken. Plus the cost of mailing.

Now I have recieved something from Hartford Auto Club that says they will be charging me $99.00 for their services. So I get to spend all day on the phone tomorrow canceling something else that should not coming to me in the first place. These people have quite a scam going and it is going to cost me a whole lot more than $29.95 to get it corrected. I can not believe that I was so stupid as to buy into this. Hopefully enough complaints and this ripoff company can be put out of business.

To call them is waste of time... Meanwhile you can find literally thousands of complaints on the Net about Capital First, none of it has ever mentioned getting refund from this company. On the other hand your bank can help you. Go to your bank, report them the fraud, the unauthorized withdrawals. (Capital First, Hartford Autoclub etc. are not real companies, only a bunch of scammers.) Your bank will give you a dispute form. (That is why to call your bank is not enough.) Your bank is able to get back your money if your account was debited in less than 30 days ago. CLOSE your account, request a new one, otherwise these scammers will charge it again and again under different names. It is not enough to stop any further charges from Capital First. They change their name in every 2-3 month.
