I got so frustrated with my statement arriving with a due date within 7-10 days of my receiving the bill (and I'm supposed to allow 7-10 days for them to receive my payment). This is one of the companies' scams. Most customers can't just drop a payment in the mail as soon as they receive their statement.
I now make all my credit card payments online. The payment posts the following business day, and I don't have to worry about a late fee again (which is often more than the original payment due). The other nice thing about online payment is that you can monitor your account daily, and don't have to wait for the next month's statement to catch any 'surprises' in your bill.

You can always go online to make your payments. I have avoided late fees by making my payments online. I use to get my bills from them only one week before the due date and of course when you live in Kansas and the bill goes to Washington state it will not get there by the due date. I've had no problems since paying online. I highly recommend it.
