Capitol One Refuse, credit card not mine, customer service, fraud Internet
My daughter and I have been fighting Capitol one for over a year. Someone took out two cards under her name when she was 11 and 12 years old. I finally have one taken care of but the other is through the company in Utah,(why they have different companies for capitol one is beyond me) Anyway we have filed disputes with credit agencies which does no good if someone steals you identity because all the information matches their records. This particular Capitol One even took my daughter to court in our own town and got a judgement against her. Even after sending them copies of her birth certificate to prove she was not 22 years old like they said she was when she supposedly got the card.
Now the court will not take it off without Capital One sending a letter saying it is not her debt and canceling it. Capital One in Utah refuses to do that, They insist that since her SS number matches that it is her debt. This card was taken out in 2007, she was 12 at the time. Now they want her to go down and file a police report and send that to them. Keep in mind that I have sent them all information they asked for on two separate occasions already, minus the police report because they never asked for one before.
This company is impossible to get anyone to listen and they will do nothing to help you clear it up. This is effecting my daughters credit and she is now 18, has a job, goes to college, and is trying to buy her first car.
