I received a very harrassing and disturbing phone call at 7:20 AM from a foreign man who identified himself as Ronnie Cooper a senoir attorney for Cash Advance America he had all of my personal information including my home address and SS#. He said he was cancelling my loan based on my credit report I never received a loan from this company he said that my UC benefits would be cancelled and that sherrifs will be arriving at my home tomorrow and recited my home address. This call was very disturbing and I am very concerned about the amount of personal infomation this gentleman has that belongs to me. Shouuld I file some sort of report with authorities regarding this?

Most likely at some point you fell for a 'phishing' scam.  Either you responded to an email and sent them your personal info, or more likely you went online and applied for a loan from a fake company.  The sites look legit, but in reality they are only trying to harvest your personal info for sale or further action.

You should consider all of your personal data to be compromised.  You should probably even go as far as to request new credit card numbers, maybe even close and reopen bank accounts to change the account numbers.  it depends on how much info you gave the scammers.  They are going to milk the info for all the money they can.

If you are not signed up with a good Identity protection agency you should do so now.  They will watch for attempts to get new credit cards and loans in your name.

As for Cash Advance, you can check them out on rip off report and online.  Tons of info on them.  Their threats are just bullying tactics to get you to send them money or payment info.  Don't do it.  In the US anyone trying to collect a debt from you MUST identify themselves and send you the debt info by MAIL.

If you have the nerve to do it, when he calls back laugh at him and make fun of his mom.  They love that!  Let the anger at the fact that they are trying to rip you off empower you.  They will soon tire of calling you if you show you will not be a mark.  But don't let that fool you into thinking your personal info is safe, you should take steps to protect it.

Good luck.
