Cavalry Portfolio Services - Calvary Portfolio Services Cavalry PRTF Calvary/Cavalry sued me for an undisclosed "debt" that had "obtained" and GOT A JUDGEMENT! Hawthorne, New York
Calvary Portfolio Services/Cavalry PRTF has sued me without telling me what the debt was for or who the original creditor was. They did NOT contact me prior to notifying me that they were taking me to court for more than $10,000.
Imagine my surprise to find out that they had not only filed the complaint, but had ALSO received a judgement for the debt!!! ALL WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OF THE COMPANY, THE DEBT, OR THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR.
I now have a lien against my property, not that I have much of it and what I do have is mortgaged to the hilt, and still have NO idea what the debt was for.
I was notified that "Cavalry PRTF" had been added to my credit report with TransUnion and that the "industry type" was listed as "personal finance." However, "Calvary Portfolio Services" was listed on my Experian credit report as "other collection agencies."
I find it VERY unsettling that this company has gotten away with this scam over and over again. It is downright scary to think that, if they got this against me, what did they get against others?
I'm an 80 year old grandmother/great grandmother and these people are coming after me. WHY????
I also called the phone number, which was listed the same on both Experian and TransUnion reports as being 800-501-0909, and was directed to http://www.cavalryportfolioservices.com/ to "make payments."
Also, I indicated that "Cavalry PRTF" and "Calvary Portfolio Services" are the same company because the same address is listed on both credit reports.

Hello I am an employee of cavalry portfolio services and I wanted to clarify a few things with you. Sometimes when accounts are purchased there is no good information on the account. Such as, good phone numbers, or good adresses. In order for us to find a good contact number, we pull a credit report and call the numbers listed on the report if there is any. If there is no success there, we will then attempt to call relatives, neighbors or referances from the original application if we have one. If we have no success with any contact numbers located, then we exhaust the account as unable to locate. I would love to know your account number so that I could see how many letters of notification about the debt we sent to you. Since you said their is a lien on your house, that tells me we had a good address and the letters we were sending either were being thrown away, or disregarded as junk mail. The point is, we do try to contact our consumers and as a collector we would much rather get you on the phone and give you the oppurtunity to pay rather then it going to legal. Once it goes to legal the collector does not recieve any credit for that account. As far as the judgment goes, you have to be served before we can sue you. Which means you were served in person either @ home or work by a process server and the documents you recieved DO indicate what the suit is for and the OUTSTANDING BALANCE.
